Civic Type-r Psi?

Hi, I was just wondering, for a Civic Type-r, is my fuel PSI suppose to be at 60? Using premium gas if that matter. whats the difference between the second highest and the highest octane Gas? Can i switch back and forth with those ? better lower mileage? Just wondering. Thanks.

Not sure what the stock fuel pressure is for a CTR but you can probably look it up. Just curous, why do you want to know?
Your fuel pressure is not affected by fuel grade/octane levels.
You can use any grade fuel you want higher than 91 in a CTR motor. The differences from 91 to 94 octane are minimal. The higher the octane the more resistant it is to detonation or pre-ignition. So you will get less detonation with 94 octane than 91.
I found personally I get better fuel mileage using 91 over 94 in my 2000 SiR yet I have never felt any difference in performance between the two.

Hope that answers some of your questions.:)

I was just wondering, thought my psi might be too high, maybe burning a little bit too much gas. I use premium gas at Esso and get a average of 250 km a tank on my 97 Honda civic Si w/ B16b Motor.

Well, thanks alot Vtec Thunder. ^^

holy crap.. you should be getting like 450 to a tank unless you're always totally on the gas or sit in traffic all day long

btw, I think the pressure is a little high.. but definately confirm that with a solid source before you change anything

I would do a tune-up, and an e-test to see where the extra gas is going.

Are you in the vtec range alot? What transmision are you using?

what... what chip do u have?
its probably running way way too rich.. its not oil thats coming out the back, its unbrunt gas

that's what I'm guessing.. I'd go for a dyno tune and have a new chip made..

to be honest.... It's in the 6-7ish zone alot. could that explain why? i still dont think it should... be taking that much gas. how much times more does Vtec guzzle gas? I'm not too sure whats my transmission. I believe the Ecu is p73 OBD-2.http://torontocivics.com/tccv5forums...ttons/edit.gif

I'm pretty sure you have some other problem.. do a tune up and see what happens and definately check that fuel pressure..

chris_v2 24-Nov-2007 01:50 PM

36-38psi at idle. add 10psi at WOT.

and if you have one of those custom burnt chips, i'd get zeeman to re-check it for you.

So your saying you're revving 6 to 7k most of the time!!??

Either you're going way too fast or you have an extremely short geared transmission. On a B16A2 6k is in VTEC which hits at 5600, a B16B I'm not sure.

When you're in vtec it does drink a lot more gas. Since your in vtec all the time, by the sounds of it, then that explains 250km/tank. I average 450-550km/tank in the winter and 550-650km/tank in the summer. So something is definitely wrong.

petro canada 91?

smokeybanana 27-Nov-2007 12:27 AM

Thx alot, I'm going to have to find a shop or someone to check out my car, 250 a tank kills my gas.... especially driving to school from brampton to oakview everyday... Thx .
