If you are driving stick and the kia is auto then you should pull on him, otherwise I don't think you will be close. Go to cayuga and find out 25$ test/tune days are there to help prevent street racing.

It comes down to power to weight, basically.

Civic cx = 28.6lbs/hp

Kia Soul = 23.3lbs/hp

By pure power to weight, the kia has the edge...

However, the civic is standard and Kia is auto.

If the driver of the civic is good and can shift quickly and the clutch is good, I give the edge to the civic.

It would be close.

And I'm sorry but I had to comment on the 3" exhaust on the stock d-series....that made by day...haha.

3" exhaust on a non turbo d series is so special, it's retarded.

Yours is turbo'd. It benefits from 3" exhaust. A stock d-series does not.

^^So you have dyno'd it at 103whp?

If both cars are standard, it will be a close race and would come down to the driver in the end.

Good launch and very quick shifts at the right rpm will win it imo.

its all about power to weight if my math is correct i believe the kia is going to take it out just bearly unfortunately and this is also assuming that both drivers know how to race

Since the cars are close to equal... I give it to the newer of the 2. Technology will win. If the computer, timing, and tuning is better(which most newer vehicles should be) it will win.

It has nothing to do with technology. It has everything to do with power to weight, power delivery, and the driver of each vehicle.

Since both are manual transmission cars, the power delivery is basically the same. Manual transmissions have barely changed at all in the past 20+ years. Therefore it boils down to the power to weight ratio and the drivers.

Saying it has nothing to do with technology is a dumb thing to say.(<--kinda like that sentance)

It's not as easy as you make it out to be. VTEC... do you speak it? Power Band... Do you understand it? It's more than power to weight... Racing has so many factors, so many variables, you even go as far as to say aeronumatics(sp?) will change the out come of a race.

I remember watching a youtube video with 2 of the same civics racing. (spoon video) One has a block made by spoon, and one was a 'normal' type r. Both were B16B's, but the spoon block allowed the car to rev a bit further than other. This allowed Spoon civic to have a higher powerband for the hills, and eventually, won the race.

Technology is also a stupid thing to say, but in MY experience, technology wins more often than not. Anyone else get the song sung by Kif from Napoleian Dynomite in there head?
