Catalytic Convertor Pt.II

Remember my post about my catalytic convertor and how i was planning on writing to honda??

Well today i recieved my reply from honda and i just got back from the dealership.

I called hondas head office, because they told me to in the letter and i spoke to a rep. she said the catalytic convertor warranty runs out after 8 years or 130k, got a 98 Si with 145k.
She said that since im a first time Honda owner, and that two other people in my family have Hondas, they will help out.
Not completly cover the 1000$ job but contribute some amount towards it.

Anyways its at Mississauga Honda right now, ill post updates on the situation.

And to everyone who said i was wasting my time with a begging letter =-=-=-=-(>

instead of that you should have got a high flow cat for prolly the same amount of labour you will have to pay in the end for this warranty job

So if my car is under 8 years, but over 130K, I am out of luck?

Yep, I had to warranty my cat at 122K, and Parkway was adamant about the km # and mines a 2001.

I think OEM exhaust manifold + cat are expensive to begin with. Then you factor in that 85 dollar/hr labour and **** gets add up quick.

The cat for the Prelude is over $900 alone (and that doesn't include the heat shields which are $150) Then you have labour on top of that.

So thr cat would cost 1000$
when you get a full exhaust system a cat isnt included,
hence the name "catback"
SO getting an exhaust system woudlent solve my problem
I just got back from the dealership and thanks to my plea, they offered my half price on labour and parts so it ends up being 550$ plus tax.
Anywhoo, ive got a friend who can get me cost parts so im going to install it with a friend. (zyepher)
Hopefully its not rusted to **** and i can get it off.

dude what shlammed meant was for 1000$ you can have a complete exhaust system (atleast I assume he meant that) I got my magnaflow cat-back system for $450.. got my high-flow magnaflow cat for 270$ I believe, and my headers for 300$. That comes to roughly 1000$ for a complete exhaust system.

I'm not telling you what to do, I'm just pointing out another path you can take for your exhaust system.

yall do know that u dont need to goto the dealer for the OEM style cat right? we sell these things all the time for a fraction of the cost that the dealer charges...this is if u wanna stay the OEM route

d16y8 doesnt have the cat and manifold in one. Save your money and buy a high flow for $100 plus max and hours labour to install.

yeh $500 you got jipped.

Hi Flow cats be be had real cheap. For $1000 you could have got a 2.5" mandrel bent with magnaflow exhaust + vibrant header

this is def a NO NO for an OEM part

Driverfx.ca has the Vibrant 2.25" High Flow Cat for $100 CDN

Cat is important to pass emissions. Most should pass, if you have any doubts just email some of the companies and ask them.
