Yah you know how that dust can get. Salt is nothing compared to dust. Lucky bastard.

the "winter-wash" supposedly has teflon in it........... keeps all that nasty salt from sticking to your car

if you drive a dark colored car........ you have no hope at keeping it clean in winter

If you're saying is teflon a no no, in my opinion it's the best thing since sliced bread!!

I use Simonize teflon car soap and it's amazing! Water just sheets off and keeps clesn for so long. A nice rain will clean it off nicely.

I love my car so much that I want to drive it everyday, sun or rain, snowing or whatnot. I believe with proper care, the body should last quite a long time.

Anyway... I basically wash my car every 10 days or 2 weeks. Someone mentioned the indoor Shell wash station near Kennedy and 407.

Basically, I go to the following 3 locations:

1) Shell Coin-op at Hwy 7 between Leslie & Bayview. Exposed to outdoor and one car per stall. Good all season around, but not anything below -10 degree.

2) Shell Coin-op at Bayview & Major MacKenzie. 2 car per stall, entre from the back and drive up to the first available stall. Water CONSTANTLY comes out of the nozzle and if you press on it, it will spray harder. But of course, when you pay 2 bucks, it will pressurize and become more powerful. 2:30 per every 2 dollar usage. Expose to outdoor but good for -10 degree because when your cloth freezes up on you, just use that little water stream to "de frost" and keep wiping. Also, turn on your engine while drying.

3) Shell Indoor car wash at Kennedy & 407. 50 cents per minute and you do whatever you want in there. Washing nozzle is still on timing so when it runs out, just press the button to activate it again. The "Foam" brush has a **** LOAD of foam. You will be amazed. Heated so you can just wear a thin sweater, no need for big jacket. People usually drive their car outside to dry it up. But when it is freezing outside, you are better off to dry it inside.

For the first 2 coin-op, I usually spend 4 to 6 dollars (2 to 3 cycles). I start with "Soap", then move to "Foam Brush", then "Wax" then "Rinse".

For the indoor one, it has been 9 to 10 dollars. So basically, less then 20 minutes. I have a hatch so washing surface is less. I spend more time on suspension and underbody.

In spring and summer, I am gonna start washing my engine bay with it, 1 cycle should clean it really well.

Hope this info is helpful for people who leave near Thronhill, Markham, Unionville, Maple, and Richmond Hill area.

Nova_Dust thanks for the locations. I usually go to coin-op as well! 2 dollars a wash, I end up spending 4 - 6 dollars as welll! At this temperature, I haven't gone, but I did some time in Decemeber when it was near 0.

I just love washing car 12 in the morning, dark, quiet, peaceful and you can take all the time you need.

Hate to get rushed when washing my car.
