can someone clarify what all the ek eg ef bg ty talk is?

ok i need some clarification as to what all these mean...
eg
ek and so on...

pretty sure a '93 Si is an EH3.. go take a look at your VIN.

oh wait a sec.... is your's a coupe or a hatch? if it's a hatch it's an EH3, if a coupe then it's EJ .. sorry.

i'm wondering... some people say "i have an EG" ie. 94eg6hb

is EG a 5th gen hatch in japan???

i think eg refers to all models in japan from years 92-95

ej n **** refer to usdm chassy codes.
and the 1, 3, 6 refer to the body type ie. 4dr, 2dr etc...

i have a 2000 honda civic 4dr and the usdm code for me is ej6 and its ek9 in jdm i believe.

I always thought that my 4th gen was a ef, but from looking at my cars i have a ed3, ed7, ed8 whats this ef thing all about then?

So my Civic is EJ2. Thats USDM? Altough its a Canadian made Civic, the Alliston plant or wot not.

Generally the term USDM covers all of north america.

EK9 only refers to the Civic Type R from the 99-00 models

yours is probably categorized under a EK3 equivalent....that's as close as I can think of, because the EK3 was SOHC VTEC'd

EF are all 4th gens.
EF7 is the JDM Si, EF8 is the JDM SiR.
Pretty sure it applies to EDM as well.
