I know you said that you don't care much about options, but I'm not sure if you care at all about colours; namely having a more unique colour on your car.

Something to keep in mind about the colours of the EK hatches: they were offered every year in only 4 colours. Red, black, and silver can be found on cars of all years (96-00). In 96 the 4th colour was light green, in 97-98 a dark purple (almost blue like) and in 99-00 metallic brown (very rare).

As an EK hatch owner I can also tell you that in 97-98 Honda offered some hatches as CX's with a G package. This is the one I have. At least for those years G package included a tachometer (rare even on 5spd cars), rear wiper + washer, rear speakers, driver vanity mirror, and passenger air bag. This was a $1000.00 option back when I bought my hatch. A/C was the other option which was $1200.00 or so. The only other option offered at that time was floor mats for I think $120 or so.

For 99-00 Honda offered a EK hatch Special which included painted door handles, side strips and rear plate area, aluminum wheels, mid wing/spoiler and special badging.

Good luck on the search with an EK hatch, you won't be dissapointed, these things are bulletproof no matter what it has on the odometer. When I was searching for a vehicle, I was looking at the 95-97 Toyota Tacoma, 96-97 Toyota 4Runner 4x4 Limited, 96-00 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4, 90-97 Nissan Pick Up 4x4 but then I found the hatch on a Saturday evening, fell in love with it as soon as I saw it. My dad and I took it for a test drive on the same day, when we got back it was too late to do the paper work, so on Monday morning we did all the paper work and the EK was in my driveway by 2 in the afternoon.

My '99 DX 5spd I bought it for $8200 tax in back in march with just over a 100k on the odometer. Came with the tachometer, rear wiper and washer, rear speakers, and passenger side airbag, floor mats and silver painted spoiler.

Is the package on my DX rare?

To put them in the right terms

96 - Midori Green

97-98 - Dark Amythest Purple

99-00 - Vintage Plum (so it is not metallic brown)

I drive a 00 VP hatch and although I don't think it is brownish, but I will agree with you that it is rare as hell.

That's pretty much what DX comes with from factory. Floor mats I believe varies from dealer to dealer.

I remember my father and I went to the 2000 Auto Show and at the Honda section, we saw this vintage plum 5 spd hatch on display. At the time, I had the idea of buying a car but of no idea what kind. We both liked the car and the next day, I called my friend at Honda that I want the same car. He said that particular colour + 5 speed is hard as hell to find, their dealership didn't even have that car. So I said try your best to search for it.

After 3 weeks or 4, he found one. I had no idea where he found it, but it was brand spanking new and I believe their dealership bought it from somewhere else. Then he added sunroof, A/C, cd player and white leather seats as per my request and I went to pick it up on March 26th. Man that's the day I will never forget in my life - my first car ever

Some suspension related work has been done since then, the side red stickers are removed. That's about it.

So you swapped the white leather for some brides? Does the back still have white leather? or were you just pulling everyones leg?

I wonder if the tach is original or if it came with the Y8. Nevertheless, a Y8 would be nice in a hatch.

When I bought a part from mdt920 , I had a chance to look at his EK for sale and I just want to say that it's worth looking at cause it's in mint condition...definately worth checking.

I believe the CX model don't come with power steering and
DX comes with...

What I like about the EK hatches is the aggressive stance it has in
all angles when it's shlammed...

Good Luck
