Buying a used car, value question

What should be a reasonable price for a 2008 Sedan Si with 24,000km?
I'm car shopping for a used Civic and found one that I like.
They're asking around $25k which I think is nuts, but I'm sure that number can be dropped down.
Suggestions for a reasonable offer? Thanks

25k seems a little to much for an used car with already 26 km on it... try searching around ... i would think somewhere in the low 20 s will be a good price

I just did a quick search on autotrader and the HONDA DEALERS are selling si , same year , close mileage (some higher some lower) at around low 20 000s and i even saw one for 19 500

2008 2009 HONDA CIVIC | Auto Trader Used HONDA Ontario

So i guess 25 000 is pretty high for an 08 si...

$25k seems way too high, isn't MSRP brand new $26k? Just get a new one at that price.

+ tax, etc with no options = $32k+ out the door.

True, but there is also +tax, +etc, on a used car.

They are not equivalent, but if I was ready to spend $25k+ for a used one, I would seriously consider the option of buying new.

If they don't budge on price, I won't be buying that's for damn sure.
My other question is, if I wanted to drop the rim to 16's, is it possible, would they fit?
I'm not one for 17s and prefer 16s so just wanted to know, thanks.

16"s should work fine the as long as you stay within the 2" range (so 15" or 19" MAYBE 20" are your limits)

Is it 25k from a Honda dealer? If so, it might be worth it because Honda dealers sometimes offer extended warranties and other perks on their used car. But, 25k is still a little high. Like someone mentioned above, they are 31k or so out the door for a brand new one and Honda is offering 0.9% financing on them, which is a fantstic rate. I'm paying 5.9% for my 07.

Most 16" wheels will fit, but not 15". I use 16" RSX wheels for the winter. Just have to watch the offset as some wheels will touch the brake caliper. Personaly, I think 17's look much better.

DumbasSi, you're right it looks much nicer, but the ride will be a lot harder. :\

I have 16's now on my '97 Civ and coming off my 15" winters, I really like a softer ride.

Looks aren't everything, ESPECIALLY when it comes to chicks.
My theory, the better looking, the more headache.

Then why buy an Si if you are concerned about the ride quality. It rides stiffer but it handles excellent. I dont think it rides bad at all with the 17s. My Mini Cooper rides stiffer.

Because I can get a pretty good deal now and considering the car, why is a 1" inch difference that big a deal? lol

Just wanted to ask on thoughts of the value of a 2007 Civic LX 4dr., about 75kms.
I was told $20K out the door price - manual transmission.
Could they go lower or should i ask for lower even?
Thanks

Considering that you can get a brand new 2009 Civic Sport for about $21 plus tax, I'd say that price is still high.

I think this is a new strategy on their part (car sales), they jack the price up so high on a used, so then they can say "I can get you a new one for a few hundred or a couple thousand more".
BS.

Thankfully, I'm fairly stubborn and since it's my money, I won't give it up that easily.

But with interest rates so low, it might not be such a bad idea to buy new. A car loan from a bank is still high and why use your own money when you can get financing for 0.09%.

Well, I figured if I offered to pay cash, they'd give a better deal.
But nada.

Personally I think it would be dumb to pay cash. You could use it for something else (investment, house) then take their money at 0.9%. That is crazy low for a car. Im paying 5.9 for mine.

Sure youre making payments every month, but the interest is almost nothing and your 20g's is still sitting in your bank account.
