Buying a diesel

Hey guys i was wondering if any of u guys think its worth buying a diesel if i do a little over 100 km a day/ a bit more than 500 km a week

its worth owning a diesel i think ur talking abt getting a jetta well some sort of a small diesel engine right??

with the price of gas these days
definetly worth it..although i personally hate the noice.

yah it is. the kms are good and theres plently of diesel stations

Whats a good diesel car to buy as far as reliablilty and gas mileage?

They aren't even noisy anymore. I carpooled in a diesel Jetta and didn't notice a thing.

i dono but to me i love the noise of diesel espacily my dads truck just sounds good and tought lol

Diesels are great. Your choices are pretty limited. You've got the Jetta/Golf basically for small cars. They've got wicked fuel mileage (800-1000km a tank) , pretty reliable and can be hopped up easier than a Honda Civic. When I start working I'll be looking into a Mark IV Jetta as my daily driver.

Ya i like the diesels b/c of their gas mileage and reliabilty, i will probly look at the 1999-2005 jetta TDI with a manual transmission

i wanna put a TDI engine in my integra...I do over 500km/weekend...sucks!

premium fuel is too much but atleast we arent payin 1.30/L like in BC for regular

lol... im not even gona answer that.

But anyways.. if you buy a diesel vw, make sure its been well maintained.. i've worked on alot of them that have led to a nice shop bill.

Ya im gonna do my homework before buying because i dont want to buy one that is gonna need alot of work to be in running order

They are basically bulletproof. I'd take a look at the tdiclub.com forums to get a better understanding. But the basic recipe is: Relay 109, EGR Reduction (via VAGCOM) and drive it like you stole it. Follow those rules and you'll have your TDI until well over 300k.

Im Probly going to buy one in about 3 yrs. I know what drive it like you stole it means but i am not so sure what Relay 109, EGR Reduction (via VAGCOM) mean.
