cops are the enforcers for the court system.

you can send your enforcers to make sure everyone is kicking up properly, but you can expect them to get out of line, pocket some money on their own, and abuse power you've given them.

it's all the same. regardless of what side of the legal system your looking at.

yah... he kinda answered it for me already... i just blame the cops cause they are the ones that fuel a problem... one person dies from street racing and cops are the one's who are like "its a serious problem thats going to kill us all if we don't do something about it"... forget the fact that more bicyclist are killed ever year cause wearing a helmet isn't a law...

why don't they pass a law forcing adults to wear helmets????
I don't get it

I took a little ride with the service manager from my dealership today.
He drives an 07 328i coupe.
Is in his mid 30's I think.
And from Hamilton to Oakville he drove 160kms.

I was crossing my fingers that a cop would show up behind us.
I was really hoping he would get booked for this.

Point is.
People know about this law.
But seem to be too dumb to really get what comes out of it if you get caught.

Plus it's a company demo also.

Wow..lots to be said on this one eh?

First off...bruce fee hits the nail on the head everytime. But..he better stop wasting his thoughts on some of the posters on here who just don't get it and walk around thinking everything is going smoothly. Look the f*** around you, Ontario is slowly but surely becoming a police state. And...space is shrinking and ontarians measure distances in time not kms anymore. Someone says, "how far do you live?"..You reply.."like 15 mins away". Anyways bruce fee FTW on this one. Cops are getting too much power and there are "stupid" people that will not learn as there are "*******" cops as well. And that's a documented fact. Although some of them are just gold man. I was stopped by a cop the other morning to leta construction truck out and he looks at the car, looks at the "driver" side and realizes there is no driver..I'm on the right hand side...I thought I was gonna at least get pulled in for my documents, but he was like, "are you for real? are you serious? man that is so kool. etc." Such a nice guy, but we all know about the other ones.

And like fingolfin said...why isn't wearing helmets on bicycles mandatory regardless of age? That age discirmination you know. Just more political bull****.

Dude, you had a coupl of good posts but this one sent you back a few points. "whaddaya gonna do about it? don't like it... move somewhere else."..that kind of thinking would surely have had black people still in the fields. You have to fight for your rights my friend. "There are unjust laws as thre are unjust men"-Ghandi(I think)

haha it's true, but I'm unwilling to devote any time to doing anything about it. therefore I have that attitude.

tell me, what's your plan of action? what are YOU going to do about it? I'm saying realistically I won't do anything. the law is moot to me as I don't ever plan on going 150 in a 100 zone.

don't worry about what others will do. think about yourself... if enough individuals think for themselves and decide they wanna do something, then you might get somewhere. but in practice, from what I've seen, people bitch and complain for a week or two, then it gets forgotten and the laws go unchanged. look at what happened 3-4 years ago when cops and ministry of environment blitzed all the show circuits, sitting outside the gates just pulling people over and running visual inspections for emissions and safety eq't. like 5 ppl from TCC got pinched, there was tons of discussion... then it went nowhere.

so again I ask you.... what are YOU going to do about it?

In germany it costs thousands of dollars to get your license, they have the lowest accident rate in the world.

The autobahn itself is designed to handle high speeds it has 2-3 layers of pavement os it doesn't develop pot holes are break down as easy.

imagine an old person doing 150 kmh actually it doesn't matter who doing anything over 130 kmh is dangerous unless you know how to handle your car.

imagine a piece from a flat bed truck coming off do you think it would be easier to avoid at 100 kmh or 130 do you think your car will slide or grip the road. in the rain are you going to do the speed limit if it's posted at 120 just because you can i know people that will..

bottom line there is no reason to speed most people aren't prepared for the kind of reaction time jsut because you drive a lowered civic doesn't mean you can go that fast it's a stupid mentality

i don't drive a modified car. cars in the 80s are better than those in the 70s. the 90s better than the 80s. 2000s better than the 90s. This is in all respects. handling, safety, reliability.

a flatbed not being properly secured, or a ****ty driver being a ****ty driver should not enter discussion for laws. those are independent problems that will occur regardless of the laws. if i shoot you in the head with a .22 or a .5 point blank, you're still not gonna be going out for dinner and dancing the night after.

and you shouldn't think about pot holes as something acceptable either. that's something the govt is paid to fix as soon as possible.

----

what will i do about all this bull****? nothing. i just ignore the govt, do what i want and that's about it.

they don't enforce laws on 1% of the population. chances are my next drive to windsor will be A-OK.

remember speed radars? what happened with that... they enforced speeding on everyone and they got so many complaints they removed the project.. yet what is fundamentally different between getting a ticket from a machine that can't be a stupid corrupt *****, and a police officer?

too much of the population was involved with the enforcement aspect of stupid laws and people spoke out against it.

I don't get it

IMO people fuel the problem more than cops 'concerned citizens' etc...

Cops have their own problems, but I really don't feel that they impact what laws are made. The media are the ones that blow things out of proportion to make it seem like things are so dangerous... cops just do as they're told (although HOW they enforce these rules is what most ppl bitch about)

think of how many less accidents and lives lost there will be if your idiot boss and his friends simply slow down and respect others on the road..

a few points!

#1, people on bikes doing 150 or more hardly ever stop in the first place, by the time a cop gets on the hghway the bike is doing 200+ and they're gone and the cops don't bother chasing. The new law didn't change **** for bikers.

#2, Sure cars have gotten alot better, but people are still the same, and the car is only as capable as its driver.
