Break in period.
Hey guys,
I just picked up my 02 LX last night and have been loving it since. My question is, how would you all suggest I break in the engine? I'm currently shifting under 3000 rpm and keeping speeds low on hte highway. Any suggestions on when I should do the first oil change and stuff like that? Any info about how you guys break in the engine during the first 3000 km would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

all honda engines come broken in from the factory, there is no break in period for your car. if it makes you feel any better to do a break in then take it easy for like 1500KMs...but again, there is no point in doing this, it's already broken in

No revs past 3k rpm and no highway for the 1st 3000km, and don't put any heavy load on the engine. This means no WOT at all. From 3000 to 5000 km, you can rev to 3500rpm consistently and you can start taking highway, and what you wanna do is zing the engine to 4k or 5k rpm every 25km or so. By Zing I mean bringing the rpms up quickly in low gear (1st and 2nd). At 5000 change the oil and you can drive it as you normally would.
Monitor your oil level every day. Add if needed, and if you're burning too much take it back to Honda.

Well after dropping $25,000 on a new car I'd baby it for the 1st little while, then have fun, you know what I mean?
Dude I called you 3 times around 4pm just after I got off work. "Sorry, the customer you are trying to call is currently not available. Please try again later."

It is RECOMMANDED to break in the car, but NOT required.
Just don't go too hard on the car will do.
After the break in period, it is good to rev up all the way to the redline slowly once in a while like entering the highway.
