brake lights

brake lights

k im having a problem with my brake lights..when i step on the pedal they dont work..

but when i lock my door with my remote, the lights go off..

i checked the fuses and all the wiring in the trunk..

not sure what to do

it might be that since the bulbs are dual filament, both might be burnt out...but that would be too easy

Check the relay going to the actual lighting braking system. There might be something wrong and it might just be as simple as swapping the relay for a new one. Check the lights when you turn just the parking lights on. If the lights come on...im gonna lean more towards the relay being shot

brake light switch? do they go on when u turn ur lights on but they dont go brighter when u apply the brakes? are all of them out including the thurd one?

it might be a bad break light switch theres a thingy under neath the brake pedal at the very top behind the fuse box i think i needed a new one of those nbut theres 2 kinds

if u have cruise control u need the switch with 4 pins because the brake is what dissengages the cruise control but i got one with 2 pins and my mechnic bypassed it byut iunno exactly how it looks i can only explain in person its at the top of the brake pedeal theres one on the clutch pedea lto at the top

this is how it looks but thats only a 2 pin i beleive its like abrass htingy u can see the cxliutch one wen u look under ur wheel but the brake one is a little hidden

okay thanks alot man..im going to go take a look at it..

but my car does have cruise so im from what you said it should have 4 pins..

i clicked that link but it didnt work..

that would be becuz its 4 pin like he stated above. It should be roughly double the size of that one

if you know how to use a multimeter, check the switch to see if it works properly .. if not then replace it

well yea ud have to noe how to use a multimeter or a test light to see i think a test light is easier to use juss go to a shop or something and ask someoone to check it out itd a bitch to reach at from what i was seeing cuzz he by passed mine ( my cruise control doesnt work) the switch for that is like 180 bucks the 4 pin one but i havent had the time to go to the junk yard to see if i could pull one outta a car there so iunno those r some choices id juss go to the shop couldnt take the head ache

its wierd cuz i took it to a shop today to get it checked out..and the guy went to check them and they were working..

so im guessing its just a loose wire or sometihng
