silentkill03: good response.

i won't knock the e46's capabilities. it is one of my favourite cars.
but i've talked to guys who own e46s and raced them with the sk2 club and had quite a hard time with them (i know it has alot to do with the driver and experience)

however, best motoring also did alot of tsukuba challenges and the S2k is quite the track car. of course everytime san gan drives it it wins.

the best cars for track capability are: RX7s, NSX, S2K

but let's be more fair: i think it may very well depend on the course. on mid to smaller courses, S2k will have the adv. on mid to larger courses esp. w/ long straights, the e46 will have adv.

now about the e36s:

E36 M3 has 240 hp, (tho in 1995 there were a few cdn euro spec with 280-290hp; i drove #28 cdn euro spec in silver and it was very quick on the highway, though 0-60 was pretty much the same) and weighs in around 3500 lbs.

NSX has between 270 to 290 hp and weighs around 3000-3100 lbs.

there is a definite and significant advantage for the nsx in lbs/hp.

also, even stock wrxs are game for stock e36 m3s...both running low to mid 14s.
whereas nsxs run mid to high 13's (with the worst ones running low 14s.)
latter nsxs run low 13s to mid 13s

like i said, there are plenty of newer nsxs running low flat 13's and a few touchng into the high 12's, but these are rarer

I know of many NSXs with 200K+ MILES on the clock, and the guys out of curiosity pulled the heads off, and found the motor to be as mint as the day it left the factory Try that with a BMW.

Try that with a Ferrari, Lambo or Porsche. It'll be the same as a BMW, but I doubt when you're shopping for a supercar you're thinking about reliability.

haha i read a story that BWM put an m3 engine threw 1 millions miles and when they took it apart the parts were so good they could be reused.

Anyway props to silentkill for not being the typical bimmer guy.....personally i think both honda and bmw are great companies.

It's the young punks that give it a bad name/reputation.

LOL...good one, i know a guy with an 87 325 E and he beats it to the ground with over 500k....both honda and BMW are VERY VERY good cars...i however would choose the M3 over NSX..even is NSX is slightly faster.

thanks guys. i used to be all about the hondas too...i was always dreaming of a White EG hatch with c/f spoon hood/duckbill spoiler/front lip...DOHC Vtec motor with a big *** turbo under the hood..some nice gunmetal/polished lip SSR competition 16"..lowered with race tein coilovers..rollcage, red type-r seats, and S2K steering wheel. i was going to go through with the project...until my brother bought a 1989 325iS...i fell in love with RWD and my car being slammed to the ground. This is however my cousins account, and he has an EG GSR sedan...with LSD tranny, and i love driving that too!

I really ought to sign up for this already...lol

Rob, Randy's Porsche GT2 will be out in the spring.. (dont worry guys, he aint stuck up..he had a B16A1 nitrous fed turbo wagon for a daily driver)

sorry for bringing up an old thread too...

The NSX-R ran a blistering 12.8s in the 1/4 mile, easily outpacing a Skyline GTR!

Torrey, Honda and BMW are pretty close when it comes to build quality.

In build quality in a study Honda Had Fewer Problems with build quality.

and Acura was right at the top for even fewer.

In initial qulity study for 2003 acura beat BMW again for problems per 100 vehicles.

On the other hand mercedes benz is garbage, I dont know why people buy because they have alot of build quality issues and for the price youd expect a far superior vehicle.

I'd most likely go for the NSX myself, I love em.

But if I could get that hyped up 4wd car known as a....skyline I think, I'd most likely have to buy it.

Paul, you have to understand what the M motor is to see why the FIRST year's models (Nov 01) 1 outta 5 M3's engine's blew. Which M3 did u drive? and which NSX? as in year and options. M3 is a porker..it weighs 3200 roughly for 95-99, and about 3300 for 02-current. The car is now..a "luxury sports coupe" which is SO gay...but you can only judge which is better...by actual race car driver's input and times on a track...
