Bought 2 civics last week
Thats right, my girlfriend and I bought his and hers Civics (I know, it's cheesy). One blue, 4 door LX 70,000km; one red 2 door Si 37,000km. Both are 2001, 5 speed, in great shape and bought from a dealer. We paid $14,000 for the LX and $16,900 for the Si, taxes in. Do you guys think we made a good deal? $30,900 out the door for both? We shopped around a bit, it was kinda hard to find the Si in red and the LX in 5 speed.

congrats, enjoy the cars!

Do you think we paid too much?

Good buy man.... ENJOY :)

For the LX yes. 4dr LX 5pd with 70k. That's worth $9k tops.
My gf had (recently stolen) one which she bought for $15,000 with 20,000 kms. She drove it for 3 yrs, put on 55,000 kms and it was stolen. Insurance gave her $8k. We've been looking for a replacement for 2 weeks. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but you got ripped on the LX. Think about it. $2000 more for an SI with almost half the kms. Somthing doesn't ad up...2 more doors and 40,000 more kms doesn't equal $2000 less.... |
Congrats on the new buys!

Dealer will always charge more. But you get a peace of mind buying from a reputable one. You could have gotten a cheaper Civic on this board; and a more powerful one for that price you both paid. But then again, you always take a grain of salt with private sell.
Like I always said, never ask if you get a good deal or not after you dished out the cash. You said you have shopped around already so that's something you can rest assure on. There will always be cheaper cars up north or further west but you gonna be crazy to travel 200km just to check out an used car, no? :) I know I wouldn't. So enjoy your new car (well, new as ownership, you know what I mean) and have fun with it! Cannot go wrong with Civics! |
good buy on the Si 2 dr....was it fully loaded? or a basic model?
my friend bought his off the lot (2001) in 2002 for about 24...but he got a bunch of goodies with it......so id say a $8 000 drop in price after 2 yrs is a good buy :) enjoy both cars.....congrads |
Si 2 door has all power options, cruise, AC, sunroof. I think it's an Si-G. Even better news, my girlfriend just sold her 92 civic for $4500!! She paid $4000 two years ago. Just gotta get rid of my accord now :( .
