i was right on this one guys,
from the ministry website:
it's found here on the mto website:
Beginner Drivers
I also found out that the ministry/government sometimes pays for damages done to your car due to poor road conditions or construction. (for those of you that remember when my front bumber got hit by something on the highway)
from the ministry website:
You must not drive alone. A licensed driver instructor or a fully licensed driver who has at least four years of driving experience must sit in the front passenger seat. Note: The photo of a driver with four or more years of driving experience has, under it, a red bar with four white dots. These are the only persons who can be in the front seat with you while you drive. This person's blood alcohol content must be less than .05 per cent, the legal suspension limit for fully licensed drivers.

Finally! Someone who has the brains to look into this ridiculous topic and provide an answer with some documentation to back it up. Cheers to SweetCivicGurl!

It sounded as if the "experienced" guy can't have alcohol either.
This doesn't make sense........that would mean a "g1 newbie" couldn't be a designated driver for a group of "white dots". Only a g2 or higher. Would they charge the "experience driver with drunk driving if a "g1 newbie" drove him home because the "experience driver was drunk?
As for the damages........good luck........ask them how long it will take to get something back. I did.........and the amount of hoops you have to jump through is rediculous.
1. Report it
2. then you have to get it checked out by one of their insurance reps
3. they send it in
4. you have to report it to your insurance company as well
5. they look into it to see if the road/condition of it was to blame or if it had something to do with the car you were driving at the time.(this is where most requests get thrown) they make up excuses like......"your car was too low".....bla.....bla......bla......
6. If they do find out it WAS the roads fault, they tell u to go get an estimate..........
7. they send that in........
8. you wait.......
9. you wait........
10. you ge the idea.

Just found out something that opened my eyes a bit.......
You can't let a G1 driver, drive you home if you are ABOVE the legal level of blood alcohol, (ie.....G1 as a designated driver for a party)
If you do, you MAY be charged with a technical offence......and your car WILL, and I repeat WILL get towed.
Only a G2 or higher would be able to drive a drunk person home.
So the next time you go out drinking, make sure the designated driver you pick has at LEAST a G2 DL or higher.
If you are under the legal limit, you can let a G1 drive you home........that's only if it's not at night. (anothr technicality)

its obvious, the G1 driver is learning to drive under direct supervision of a fully licensed driver, now how would the G1 newbie learn from his mistakes if his guardian or whatever is passed out in the back seat?

Congrats to SweetCivicGurl for being sensible and letting everyone know!

Its common sense dude.
the point of a g1 is to have prehand experience in driving with a perosn licenced over 4 years old before you enter the exam. So if the g1 newbie is learnin how to drive that means the instructor (experienced pasanger) obviously must be well within the legal drinking limit of operation a vehicle, because in case the newbie makes a mistake the instructor must be there to jump in at all times.
