Auto D16y7 to manual compatibility

Hi all, I'm considering swapping my auto 99 CX to a manual. Doing any work on the car won't be a problem, I'm mostly just looking to get some info. Ultimately my plan is to buy an entire car and do a manual swap, which will leave me with an extra parts car as well. that being said, I'm looking for which cars would be compatible for a manual swap. Obviously the simplest thing to do would be to just get a manual D16Y7 parts car, but I've been looking around where I live and haven't found anything worth buying. Would something with a Y8 work? What about a newer car? There seems to be a lot of 7th gen civics around, would any of those work? Thanks in advance!

PS I know it seems like it would just be easier to sell my car and buy a manual one but I'm really just looking to get my hands in to this type of stuff. My father's a mechanic and my brother is very good with cars as well and I'm trying to learn to do stuff myself.
