I would just like to state that I have been a lurker of this site for about a couple of months now and, for the most part, I like what is going on. Now, I'm sure if you look at my sig you can see that I own a VW and not a Honda. The reason why I'm posting this thread is to get some feedback on a thread I just saw on a VW site that asks why MKIII owners, that's owners of Jettas/golfs from years 1993-1999, don't like Honda drivers........Click the link and post what you think. I think it puts a lot of things into perspective.

why does it matter to us if they hate us or not we haven't done anything wrong or purposely gone out of our way to annoy MKIII drivers....

i'm gonna have to agree that this thread is retarded. u cant make such gross generalizations like that bout honda drivers. there r a lot of ppl out there who drive other vehicles who have that attitude. not right to pin that stereotype on us.

Well put every group of cars have there own set of Bad attitude drivers,
like gatherer i find this thread to just be a way of picking a fights between two sets of car lovers.......

VW & Honda drivers have always "disliked" each other in high school....it'z a high school thing.....nothing more.....it'z pointless to bring it up in this setting.....such as the TCC

I find TCC to be a set of Mature Civic Drivers who love their cars and don't find the need to bash on other cars or drivers.

To tell u the truth though i've seen more hate on the VW side then the Honda side......

i've seen a lot of VW'z with bumper stickers relating to the bashing of Honda cars....or that classic guy pissing on the honda emblem......i have yet to see one Honda vechile with a Bashing VW sticker......

Don't get me wrong, I like Honda's, hell I used to own two of them. The reason why I posted this thread was because I too find it retarded that VW owners tend to bash Honda drivers.......The funny thing is that ever since I started visiting this site I haven't noticed anything derogitory (sp?) being said to any group of cars, let alone VW's........I don't know, I guess the point of this thread was to find out how Honda owners felt about this issue......Personally, I think it's pretty retarded too.

I briefly skimmed the first couple posts from the thread on the other page and it looks like the people that they have a problem with is the "Rice Boy" thing. Fart mufflers, punks who claim they smoked a ITR, huge wings, etc.

So I guess that it's just a case of a couple of young punks who make a bad image for the rest of us, but just keep in mind that those ricers aren't limited to Hondas, now you see them with every type of car, including VW's!

anyone here who has a beef with that vortex thread and this post is prolly guilty of everything they talk about in there. I share the hate they have... on the flip side of the coin there are hella many VWs that look like *** too. And they are unreliable like the local weatherman. Plus, who are they foolin, they got 2800 lbs metal bricks with 2.0 Liter engines that make 115 hp and they call our cars economy cars. What's that make them??

I've owned both VW and obviously Honda...and yes VW's are unreliable for the most part especially the 16v motors and the cost to repair is through the roof...but I loved my rabbit GTi and I loved my 1st Gen CRX (pocket rocket originals)...the VW/Honda thing is old and most people nowadays know that and accept it...I have friends that are pure V-Dub but they can see what looks good and what performance is and they can say they are a car lover (as I am) not a VW lover or Honda lover etc.

if it looks like *** then it gets a big thumbs down by me regardless on make model etc...all is fair in automotive customization...ya gotta take the good with the bad and the happy with the sad

Like honestly how can you "hate" a brand of car that comes from the factory as one of the most reliable automobiles on ther market... I can see somone hateing a car cuz it brakes down allot and causes the owner money and headaches.

But to profile a car by it majoraty of drivers is stupid... Like they exist in all brands... I constantly have teenagers in their stickered out Sunfires chirping their tires at me st stoplights and egging me on... Whatever, I dont loose sleep over it thats forsure, cuz the majoraty of people like my car not hate it.

Back in the day when i owened a snowmobile I went through all this same crap, oh i hate artic cat, polaris sux this sux that, yamahas the best..blah blah bl;ah... same goes for bikes, everythign else...

i never realized that there was so much ignorance towards Vtec lol some guys like vtec = crap haha what an idiot.. he neglected to realise vtec has the potential to turn a 1.6 liter engin into a 160hp powerplant! ahwel ignorance is all around us , no sence on trying to change the world lol...

I had this 30s balding fat man with a blonde bimbo in the pass side blow by me in his 94-95 BMW on ... I forget what higway (it goes from St Kitts towards T.O.) anyways... he was doing about 140-150 hanging 1/2 out his window shooting me the finger and yelling just cuz I wasn't going 150 like him and was apparently holding him up Idiots come in all shapes, sizes, colors, wallet sizes... there is no lack of stupidity.

vw unreliable? i wasn't aware, of courrse thats probably cuz i never owned one, but i mean, i've never hated vw, i really like them, based upon my test drive once, i wasn't even aware that there was some kinda hatred between the two, oh well

K this is so stupid.. Who gives a ****.. If I want to put a 10 foot wing on my car and I think it'll look good then I'll do it.. I don't understand why people "HATE" others who do that... To each his own.. Yeah it looks bad... FINE, doesn't matter.. Just make sure yours doesn't look like that and guess what, people will respect it. If anything these morons will make your car look even better.

I was on the 401 with the hatch like last week and this kid in a 90s accord came flying up beside me trying to edge me to run him.. I guess cuz he saw my exhaust and that was enough.. I let him be stupid trying to get me to push it... so I pretended and made it look like I was trying for a second, he thought OO look i'm winning and then just before vtec I put it down and instantly took buslengths. Idiot never came near me again, probably realized that he's driving a **** box.. Mind you yes it's annoying when they fly down neighborhoods and show no respect whatsoever but that's the way it is! Live with it.. Everyone goes through the phase of being "stupid".. everyone eventually learns, it's like a cycle of life..

I think this is bogus. I mean, for the most part, we honda owners have chosen to appreciate Honda more than others is because we've experienced all sorts of cars and have come to a conclusion that out of all of em, we prefer Honda. Maybe due to reliability or gas mileage or the relatively inexpensive maintance moneys required or maybe just the way it looks. And in that process, we favor or love our cars and in some situations, solely with that reasoning. At my shop, we see the usual domestic labels and VW's more than Honda, Toyota and Nissan. And after working on VW's, you come to a conclusion, that they were designed to break down given a certain amount of time. Now a days, even the newer VW's cannot be worked on by shops like mine. They have to go back to the dealer because of certain processes that VW has designed into the vehicle itself that only a technician at a VW dealer can fix the problem. It's an ingenius process for the manufacturer but, it's a pain and a great expense for the consumer. For example, Ford (including Mazda) are designed to break down...parts are "designed" to faulter at a given time. That's how the parts departments are suppose to make money. Ford doesn't make nearly enough on the car but, instead they make money on the parts they sell. Sorry, going off topic here but, what I'm trying to say is, the VW owners can hate all they want...what it comes down to is that my Honda will still be running the streets of T.O. long after they've put their VW to pasture. I have nothing against VW owners but, more on the VW designers themselves. But, that's my opinion.
