Anyone know MR ROOP ????
If anyone knows the person who drives a late model black Accord coupe, 6 cylinder I believe, with vanity plates as MR ROOP, give this idiot a SMACK. I was driving westbound in the collectors tonight around 7-ish, and this goof weaved in and out of traffic making multiple-lane lane changes in excess of 150 Km/h. I was only in sight of him for about 4 km's then he got off at Courtneypark Dr & 410, but he also managed to tailgate like crazy, cut off 4 other motorists, and made many lane changes without signals. Maybe he doesn't want to burn out his new aftermarket tails or can't figure out where the turn signal lever is?:working:. Then speed off in the slow lane before exiting the highway.
This idiot is making us all look bad and really pissed me off, especially when others are getting stupid tickets for tint and being too low, but horrible drivers like this one is going around endangering everyone on the road and exacerbating the allready negative stereotype of a sport compact owner, specifically a Honda owner . We owe it to ourselves to police each other, peer pressure is powerful. Besides, I don't want this TOOL cutting off anyone who might cause an accident that could involve any of us or our loved ones.
Thanks for reading my rant.

Face it... for all of us to give each other peer pressure to drive safely... somebody's gotta start it and people have to follow.
As of right now, the only peer pressure we have going right now is GUN YOUR ENGINE AND BURN UP GAS and accelerate like a psycho.
Cruising up the DVP really scared the **** out of me I must admit. I'm sure that many many of you have had more experience than me driving those kinds of highways (curving highways where you can't see too far)... at high speeds whipping in and out of traffic... but that day when we cruised to the new meet location... that was bad. I didn't know where it was so to keep up.. I was whipping in and out of traffic to keep up with those who were leading that were also whipping in and out of traffic.
I will say.. from this day on... I will NOT give into peer-pressure in that negative way again. If you guys feel like high revving and accelerating like madmen with lots of money to burn up in those high revs, be my guest but I won't do it. I will promote a safer driving community.
One last thing... How can ANY of you be actually sincere about promoting a safer driving community and less attention to Honda Civic drivers when other drivers see you accelerating like madmen? Lets not be hypocrites and be the man or woman that word from your mouth promotes you as.

Kent, I don't disagree with you at all, but if you're going to post an extended complaint such as the one above, you should do it in the private member's section. Besides, Clownrider has not been part of any cruises to the meets.

Regarding the whole "safe, responsible driving" issue...
The following are my opinions and experiences only:
OK, to tell you all the truth, I have BARELY had my G2 for a year now. And in that short time span I have managed to learn a LOT of things.
As I can see with friends who just recently got their cars or liscences, there is a certain thrill associated with driving (especially for the first couple of times, hell even for the first couple of months). I know this feeling. It was a feeling of invulnerability, of complete and utter invincibility and power. I loved that feeling. However, it was this same feeling that led me to experience several unwanted situations, and accidents. About 2-3 weeks into having my G2, I was cruising on Eglinton going fast, VERY FAST. To those who know what car I drive, I was basically reaching the top speed shown on the speedo. Why? Because I was dumb. What happened? Thank God, nothing. I tried to run a light that just changed red, I panicked, slammed on the brakes, and barely made it past the cars coming in the Right and Left directions. I still remember what was going through my mind at that exact moment as I was sliding through the intersection, I wanted to make it seem as if i was making a legit right turn, and was about to yank the steering wheel to the right side. At that speed, those results could have been disastrous. Fortunately I didn't follow through on my thoughts, and ended up arriving at home safely. Next, approzimately 1.5 months later, I pulled the STUPIDEST thing that I could have pulled. I fishtailed my Dad's van, and crashed into the curb on a busy residential road. Why? Again, because I was stupid, and I didn't learn. What did I get from that incident? A ticket (careless driving). I ended up paying $550 for a representative, and got my fine and charge lowered drastically. I didn't touch any of my parent's cars for 6 months. If I wanted to wash one of the cars, I had to pop it in neutral, and push it out of the garage. Go ahead, laugh if you want, I guess it is quite funny, but the thing is that I'm just showing you all the extent of what I had to go through. The 6 months passed, I went to court, got my charge lowered, and started driving occasionally again. How do I drive now, You may ask?? MUCH differently than before. Summed up in one sentence, I learned my lesson. I still rip it occasionally on some deserted street (rarely), I don't think I ever even considered street racing since the incident.
Now, to get to the point. In my opinion, safe, responsible driving has to be learned. You have to (unfortunately) go through some sort of traumatic or highly stressful event, AND be able to realize your mistakes before being able to make any kind of change. I sure as hell don't even know a fraction of the club, let alone all of the other people on the road, but I am SURE that they have all had some sort of experience in their driving careers that had them regret their actions. I am not implying anything, just saying that in most cases, this type of driving responsability has to be experienced to be "absorbed". I for one, was too stupid to learn from other's mistakes, I had to commit similair ones myself. Well, at least I learned (hopefully).
Sorry for the long post, but I hope I sort of got my point accross.

Amen...
I'm still in my stressful situation and I'm telling others to be careful but they're all turning around and biting me in my ***. It's in the members section.
They're turning around and biting me like I'm somebody who is just raving and ranting nonsense.
Safe driving has to be learned. I agree. When I got my G2.. I thought I was god. I would be racing down the highway (400) at very high speeds..., driving like a freak, taking chances, gunning it at every intersection, and then one day I learned my lesson.
Why does everybody have to be angry at me because I speak honesty and caring to all?

Bro, all I can say is PROPS to you.
I personally am not a member (yet), so I cannot say anything to anyone who may have replied to you in a negative way in the members section. BUT, I know just as well as you seem to know, that this "responsability" has to be learned. It is not gained through whatever "skills" a given driver may have, it is learned. Just because someone may or may not have been driving for the past 10 years, and and still drives like they own the road, the only reason that they haven't got into a major accident is simply due to luck. Maybe they should use those odds to their own advantage and play the lottery instead, but at least let the rest of us on the road get to where we're going alive.
Those who haven't yet learned just don't understand what we're talking about, and that's fine, since I can also picture myself in their shoes (maybe just 10 months ago), and I would probably have flamed a fool writing such crap as I did in my last post.
To that small minority who haven't yet learned that driving is a priveledge and not a right, I pity you. (PS I don't mean to offend anyone on this board, I am just stating a general though/feeling directed to no one person in particular...besides, I also have friends who still drive like morons, and take my word for it, I don't just sit in the back seat and let my life be endangered, I let them know what I think of their driving, and I tell them, "don't worry man, one day you will also learn"...
Peace
Matt

More power to both of us!
Honestly man.. if you were a member.. you should check out the flames I'm getting from everybody. THey think I'm just skawking bs all over the place.
I heard it the hard and long way. I hope to god nothing like this will ever happen again.
Driving is a privilage. And to be honest.. I'm glad for those who don't get into an accident.. but as soon as they do.. they'll see the same eye level of those who have been into situations that are disturbing and where I'm coming from. I geniunely care about these people but all they wanna do is bite me in the ***.
What's the point in helping? Speaking of which.. why did I even bother???

Why did you bother?? Because you cared. Don't regret that man. I agree wholeheartedly with the issues raised in your post, and if you ever need an extra hand to convince others about what we are trying to get at you know who to talk to.
By the way, my name is Matt. I'm sure I'll get a chance to meet you at one of the friday West-end meets at Timmies.
As for right now, I think I'll head off to sleep...
Good talking to you..

Sorry man, just one more thing...
In reply to:

The sad thing is that for most people (Me for example), one warning is not enough (Running the red light). And the sad unfortunate thing is that the first and last warning for some people may end up being more than what they bargained for, and they end up dead. (it may sound kind of harsh, but I am assuming the worst circumstance).
