ANOTHER what car should I get thread!

All in all man,
test drive all the cars you can to get a good view of what you want then narrow it down and look at those cars closer, then you have a good idea of which vehicle will be the right choice.
Good luck in your search!

Mike,
It looks like Impreza is at the top of your list. The vehicle that buy is ultimately you and your wife's decision
I still like the Accord though....
Anyway, I want to add my comments about All Wheel Drive and why I wouldn't buy it living in Toronto.
First and foremost, 99.9% of the time, you don't really need it and a fwd car with good snow tires, that could be reduced to, never needing it. I don't drive to a cottage that I have to take a snow covered back road on.... In your case, I don't know but since you have lived with 2 Civics, maybe not.
A comparable fwd car will always be lighter than an awd car. Why is lighter better?
1. A lighter fwd car will be quicker to stop.
2. A lighter fwd car will be quicker to corner.
3. A lighter fwd car will be quiker to acclerate...except in snow covered or icy roads where awd may provide better grip.
However, if both cars were equipped with the same tires in similar conditions (even in snow), 1. and 2. would still be true regardless if the car is front, rear, all or four wheel drive.
Basically, AWD will let you accelerate faster and let you just get stuck deeper. It has no effect on braking or cornering (manouvering) performance...actually, it can be worse...that's why in Winter, you see a lot of SUVs in ditches....
Other advantages of a lighter car: less fuel consumption.
Also, maintenance is more expensive with awd, you have to flush the rear differential fluid at regular intervals. The more things there are on a car, the more things are there to break.
In your research, I would also recommend checking the cost of regular maintenance costs including replacing brake components, exhaust components, need of timing belts (some cars, like the Accord have timing chains so there is no maintenance required there), etc, not just oil changes.
Sorry this was so long. Anyway, again, it is ultimately up to you on what you buy.

Mark your posts are always the most informative. The Suby is nice, but I hate the lack of decent interior options and they may be enough to steer me away. I've also be researching AWD and all of your points are so true. We've had FWD cars for this long, why change?
The 4dr Rabbit was actually a very nice car to drive. The one I looked at was fully loaded with power everything, moonroof, 10 speaker stereo, heated seats, ABS, lots of hatch room, etc. 150 hp and 17tq, so it moved pretty decent too.

Mike,
I've driven the new wrx, sti, 2.5rs and forrester. I would highly recommend Subi's. A friend of my dad's has the new forrester, and the same legacy that Gallagher's mom has, and has had no problems with either of them.
I would highly recommend the 2.5rs you're looking into. You don't need the turbo that comes with the wrx. Have you taken the car off the lot for a test drive yet?
You meantioned a TSX, isn't the sticker price almost $10,000 more compared to the 2.5rs? Have you talked to ryan? Appearance alone, the TSX looks much better than the 2.5rs. With the oem bodykit, and yellow fogs it looks very, very nice.
I'm looking at financing a new car as a beater if I can find a very good rate. It'll probably be a Toyota Yaris. They're very cheap on insurance and gas.
Let me know what you decide on purchasing.

The new Rabbit just looks plain in person. The Rabbits int he VW commercials all have the OEM 18" wheels and the factory body kit. A good friend of mine just bought one so I'll get a closer and better look at them. New cars have warranties, so reliablity isn't really an issue. The new VW's are supposed to be very good anyway.
The Impreza is out. It is a very nice driving car, but it lacks many of the features I'm looking for in a car. Nice stereo, moonroof, folding rear seats, etc.
The Si is still on the list, but like mentioned above by another person, I don't know if I want 2 of the same car.
We are even considering an RSX or a CSX.

CSX is a good buy I think, I think for most people it makes more sense then the TSX...

I would have to suggest an 06 Sentra SE-R Spec-V....
Even with the full Brembo package you are still only looking at :
$26,312 after taxes,PDE, and destination charge.
Plus you get a 300w Rockford system (6 disc), sunroof, etc.
Would have to say this would be one fun sedan.... and if you want bigger you could still afford a 3.5S Altima
Just some food for thought........
BTW.... no disrespect to my fellow Honda heads..... im still an eg driver.... lol

What about the Ralliart Mitsubishi Lancer?
Pontiac Vibe rather then the Toyota Matrix as the Vibe shares the Toyotas drivetrain anyways?
Or if your looking for lots of room without an SUV, the Mitsu Lancer Sportback RAlliart edition? 162hp/162tq.
