Is it all over??

Our days are soon to be numbered...as imports replaced the 70s muscle cars, within the next 10 years I see the fuel cell technology replacing what we do now. I for one welcome the change and hope to modify that too Anyone else with me...or do you really love your gasoline engine. I wanted to get an Insight, but I couldn't afford one Any thoughts on upcoming technology?

You know why you can get 1500k on a take of gas. It's the 60hp motor and the top speed of 90. Think about it.

Oh ya don;t forget the OOHH so cool wheel covers for the back wheels. WOWWIE ZOWWIE

HAHAHA

The only thing I really like is the colour matched H on the hood. Check it out next time your at a Honda Dealer.

Until those cars drop in price, gas-powered cars will still rule. The Insight is a step in the right direction, but the thing is bloody expensive when compared to a cheap car. You need to drive a tonne in order to realize any savings over buying a cheap gas-powered car.

imagine in 10 years, we'd be swapping batteries instead of engines. Modifying the motor's magnets instead of intakes. Kinda like modifying a big electric powered RC car. It'll be quite interesting.

The point of the Insight is not for economical reasons. Honda is LOSING lots of money on it. It is to show that Honda can do something that other manufacturers (with some exeptions of course) said couldn't be done practically. Rich, Have you ever driven an Insight? It actually isn't that bad to drive. If you drop it in 3rd on the highway, let the VTEC kick-in, she goes pretty good (the light weight helps). It is surprisingly peppy and I had it up to 140+ kph with no problems. For comparison, a '00 Civic Sedan EX automatic was driven at the same time, and the Insight went twice as far as the Civic on a (smaller) tank of gas.

How about the Civic Hybrid (the gas/electric type)? The surpising thing about it is how much it is like a regular Civic. I drove one up from Toronto to Cochrane (800km) in winter conditions with snow tires on one tank of gas! True it isn't cheap to buy either but Honda isn't losing money on it as well. The costs are coming down. Don't be surprised if you drive a hybrid (or fuel cell for that matter) car in the (not too distant) future.

Just my $0.02.

Mark

I considered buying an Insight... thought it would be more practical for this day and age. With that in mind, I thought I'd look wiser owning a more cost and energy efficient vehicle. However, the boy in me made me get the SiR instead.

And this is the reason why you should NEVER buy a car that was once used as a rental.
