I've thought about dumping $$ into my car but after pondering the idea I have decided not to, because IMO its a waste.

Don't get me wrong, I love to work on cars and enjoy cars as a hobby, but when you start dumping tons of money into your ride, to ME its pointless, theres no return on the investment, unless you decided to sell it to some un suspecting kid who will pay top dollar for YOUR customized ride... and if you decide to part out your still loosing the value you put in...

There is few things I will mod on my car, but then it comes to a point where anythign after is too far...

some of the best mods IMO are home made and are very subtle but set the car off..

Loudsubz is right.

While I love to mess around with cars and something about EGs makes me love those bubble back pieces of ****. Hell, I'm gonna buy another after saying I'm not going to.
However I'm 20 and I'm going to worry about some other things that will be in my future. Like saving for a house (yea it's earily but I want something nice by 27-28).

Cars are great, I'm a total car nut, love working on them and talking with people about them.
However after dumping money into one. I learned you need to limit the spending.

It's a personal choice wheter you want to dump whole paycheques into your car. I think it's a right of passage in a sense, as we all do this to an extent. With age comes wisdom to a certain degree. You soon learn to be more selective, and careful in how much time and money you place in your vehicles. When you get more established you soon have to learn how to achieve your goals with your car wilst staying within a certain budget.

The way I see it is, car's are my hobby, and my future carrer, I would rather spend money on my car right now at this point in my life then other things. Keep in mind though I already have school planned out (appenticeship), so I don't really need to save for that, and I'll just take out a morgage for a house when I'm older and ready. For the time being I will sink most of my money into car's because that's what I love, I love working on them and spending money on them.

cars are on all our minds...thats why we spend hours on the net doing research. ****, i think about my car during sex...and my girl yells at me and says "are you thinking about your Ek again?" i think she is starting to notice because i sometimes use one boob as a steering wheel and the other as the shifter...switch it up sometimes...drive on the left hand side or right hand side. Also sometimes i moan out "vrooooooom...pssh... vrooooooooooom...psshhhhhh" and it doesn't go over well.

but yeah cars are on all our minds. i have been through dozens of paint colours and different kit set ups and engine choices....it stresses me...

loudsubz is growing up... that's no fun

I'm in no hurry to grow up. I have a goal in mind, and I'll continue to push forward until I am satisfied that my goal is within reason completed. Now, how unrealistic your goal is determines your level of maturity.

Me, I just want a couple of nice, fun driving cars that look... like I should be driving them. Not gaudy, not stock, not overmodified. Once you lose site of your goals, then you start making losses. Until then, all the money you put into your car is... like paying a lease on a Porsche. haha Not a waste per se... just enjoying your money. Besides, loudsubz, you can have fun on a budget too!! I say $3000/year into your car is not excessive, and after 3-4 years you can have a real hot car that reflects who YOU are.

After this year, I'm gonna cut spending on the car to minimal... like a couple of grand per year.
