im thinking of getting a 87 jetta with 98 vr6 conversion and it has couple other things like chip bla bla....i heard when the person writes price and puts AS IS, thats bad meaning something is wrong with the car.

well best advice is to go see the car look it over for ohhhh 2 minutes tops then turn quickly and ask the owner if you can drive it to a mechanic you know to have it looked over then do it if he says yes ... you'll get all the info that way once it's up on a hoist... and if he says no run away quickly

Old School Golfs/GTi own! I will have one some day. My friend is still trying to sell his 78 Rabbit, if I had the cash to spare, I'd buy it for a pure project car. I could makeit into a nice little Dub.

Check the car out. Look over it your self and then see if you let you take it to a mechanic YOU know, not his mechanic or buddy (some people have gotten screwed over royally this way). CiViC [-_-] BoY ™ is right, normally 'as is' means no etest or cert. Personally I would touch an 'as is' car unless it was the deal of a life time. See if he'll maybe at least etest it for you.
