motti and I have a special relationship. haha actually I didn't really see that comment. which is cool cuz it doesn't bother me. to answer his ? tho, I've been driving since 1996, so yeah... after ABS was a twinkle in someone's eye. in that respect he's right. but he totally missed the point I was making, so I'll spell it out for him

people rely heavily on 'technology' to save them from their own stupidity. I bet more cars in the ditches have ABS than cars that do not cuz ppl who do not have ABS simply are afraid to approach the limit, knowing there is no safeguard to save their ***.

I remember distinctly this one night in 1998. My good buddy JUST got his brand new fully loaded 1998 Jetta GLX VR6. Now, fully loaded included ABS and traction control. Well one night it was POURING rain and we were going to the movies. He was getting on an offramp just fawkin FLYING in the pouring rain. I was sure we were all gonna die. Nothing happened... well, I asked him after WTF he was thinking driving like that. He just shrugged and said - it's got trac control, don't worry about it. I think that's the day I started hating these elec safeguards. I could have died.

ok, you're an idiot.

both of my cars have had abs, so your just automatically a better driver than me?

abs has never saved me from an accident, i know the limits of my car and drive defensivly.

don't act like your an all pro driver cause you have no power steering, no abs, and play gran turismo all day, cause at the end of the day your still a 18 kid with no more than 3 years driving experience.

no one here has actually stated why they do or do not like abs. it's all been about how great a driver most of us think we are

truth is, I'd be all for it if the damn things werent' such hack jobs. if it was me, to be quite honest, I'd use drive-by wire tech on both trac control and ABS. that would make for some good systems. basically for ABS rather than pulsing like a mother, I'd have it seamlessly take the driver input into mind, check road conditions and adjust accordingly. a more percise wheel ABS ring and sensor PLUS hydraulic ram tech to provide line pressure based on driver input could make for a car that would literally never lose grip. same with trac control, drivebywire can make it so the tires can never spin. simple as that, I dunno why it hasnt been done in most cars.
