I remember someone saying that ABS is pointless is the hatchbacks because they're light. I'm not sure if thats true or not....

i like it..
on the worst of days it gives me a heads up (i'll intentionally see if i can activate it)..
i change my driving habits accordingly and it never comes on again that trip cuz i'm aware of things more..

Thats so true Marty
i never thought i would like them and i am now that i have seen them in action a few times this winter, same as pumping your brakes to slow down on slippery sections...just that its pumps a lot faster than your foot ever could

just remember ABS wont make you stop sooner, it will help you maintain steering. Alot of people come into the shop i work at and say there abs dosnt work cause they didn't stop in time.

well it does kinda make you stop sooner seeing as how it prevents the wheel locking up and skidding/sliding.

but yes abs is not all that cracked up to be.

I hated them until they saved my front end in January.

Just learn how to use them.

I heard in deep snow abs makes you stop slower, because it doesn't give a chance for snow to build up in front of your wheels.

but ya, for a daily driver I would prefer to have abs (I don't), but for a summer/fun car, no way......

ABS has saved my *** a couple of times. I say it's a good thing. If it's available, then go far it. It'll probably keep resale value a bit higher as well since most people do look for it.

In terms of racing, the less interference the better, but this is a Civic and it isn't meant for racing.

Moronic statement of the day.

You need seatbelts, learn how to drive.

You need crumple zones, learn how to drive.

You need air bags, learn how to drive.

You need back-up sensors, learn how to drive.

You need any form of safety features at all, learn how to drive.

Fact is, all of these things help make the drive that little bit safer. They provide back-up for you when your own over-rated driving abilities are compromised by the uncertainties that come with the unpredictable environment we call "driving".

Only the stupidly over-confident knowingly spurn safety back-ups. That's where Darwin and his theory of natural selection comes in.
