just paint the FMIC black.. but it will chip..or jsut get a supra Side mount or a ADFX side mount..that will carry you into the 12's on a evo 3 or B16G turbo..or deep into the 13's with the stock 14B..you dont' need a frotn moutn to get into the 12's and 13's.. the supra side mount is a common mod to upgrade the stock intercooler...you gotta just remember that if you luanch it at 5000 and above all the time things will break after awhile so....they are good cars if you take care of them and dont' abuse them...

2000 WILL bog the car.
U have to launch at 5500rpm, dont be a *****!!!
Breaking things means you can upgrade them with better parts!
Also if you get the car you BETTER be running 17-19 psi on the 14b. Hacking the MAS, and the dumptube mod, along with others will get you in the 13's.

Make sure you get it checked out by a garage first to check for any major problems ie. transfer case leaks etc. I have owned two talons. They are great cars and could be made fast for cheap but make sure you keep up on the maintenance, also make sure the timing belt is done atleast every 50k.
Like others said if it was made before may 92 then it probably has a 6 bolt block with a 4 bolt rear end. After May 92, all talons came with a 7 bolt block, which sometimes likes to crankwalk. I belive it's a problem with the thrust bearing.
If all maintenance is kept on, then the engine can last a long time seeing that you dont go overkill on the engine.
Do some research first before playing around with the turbo etc if youve never owned a turbo car. I went to a talon from a honda, and blew a motor within 4 months, just because I didnt know what I was doing. Theres a lot more little factors when modding them, although you can make power for next to nothing.
Oh and for the comment about venting to the atmosphere rice, yes the computer dumps more fuel in becuase the MAS records a certain amount of air and then you vent some of that to the atmosphere, meanwhile the car still thinks there's a "certain" amount of air, and it dumps too much fuel in. The only thing it does is make your car run rich when the throttle is let off. I have vented on both my talons and had no problems. Also venting to the atmosphere keeps the turbo spooled between shifts.
Anyways, there great cars, but watch out you'll get hooked.

5500 rpm launches all the time will kill the tranny..unless you want to spend money on a shep or tre tranny plus you dont' need to pull 1.6 60 ft's all the time....4500 should be fine...oh ya and a act 2600 or your not going anywhere after you toast the 13 year old stocker
if you want to launch all the time then be well prepared to be pulling trannies and breaking center dif's
