92-95 Civic Vs 96-00 Civic
Alright, Well my plan was to get a 96 Si, but many people have told me not to get that because it's the first model they made.. anywho I really wanted a 96 and up model, because I wanted to make the car into a 99-00 SiR, seats.. dash...body etc... anywho I realized that, at the end the car won't be an SiR and it will cost more money then just buying one.... and it will be newer.. but there's no way in hell I can pay for insurance i'm 17, G2.. SiR No no...... i'm planning to get a 95 civic si coupe now.... but I would like to know the pro's and con's, of the 92-95 coupes, vs the 96-00 coupes

haha i'm driving a 96 coupe right now... seems decent, no problems or whatsoever... any cars can have some problems i guess... so far so good (touch wood)...
my cousin drives a 95 coupe.... very good too....
seriously, i think they both go about the same (considering the Si models)... but then the 96+ feels more comfy inside except the front seats is not as tight as the 92-95s coz it doesn't have the bucket-feel.... but in terms of the cluster, console, dash, etc, the 96+ is way better in any way IMO...
however, the exterior has much of the diff... bigger headlights compare to the more longer headlights... front grill vs no front grill (not talking about the grill on the lower bumper)... i believe the 92-95 is abit smoother has more curves than the EKs...
however, i find the moonroof on the EGs fail often... maybe its the different design on the mechanism of the moonroof on the EK... they tend to run better (atleast that's my exp. so far IMO) but the point is... you want to work on which design... coz any civics you get, you would be pretty much doing the same thing... 4-disc conversion, sir-conversion, b-series swap, headlights, clear/red taillights, lowered, i/h/e... haha...
if you planning to upgrade and stuff... whichever car you get doesn't matter too much, coz you would be upgrading suspension, brakes, etc. and you would probably do some ricing and stuff for sure...

The only difference I can think of between SiR and 6th gen coupes are:
B16A2 engine (for obvious reason)
Radiator
Rear engine bracket
Cat. back exhaust
Front strut bar
Front sway bar (+ front forks, lower control arm)
Rear sway bar
Suspension (the spring rates should be different)
4 wheel disc brakes
Sunroof
Power door locks
Power windows
A/C
(Si has the same 4 features above)
Cluster
Front and rear seats with special pattern
Front lip
Front grille
Rear wing
Badge
DOHC VTEC stickers
Fog lights
correct me if I am wrong, but I think that's pretty much it. If I were you, get an auto DX coupe then convert. Because the VIN is designated as an auto vehicle, not manual.

I personally like 6th gen styling.
As for auto to manual, I don't think there should be a problem. When you take out D16 for a B16, everything changes, from ECU, wiring harness, to shift linkage. But that's what I think how it should be.

I rather just keep manual, and make it simple.. and when I meant SiR, converison I meant doing stuff that I wouldn't normally replace.. like the exterior, rims and interior, performance wise? i don't care what the SiR has lol I just love the look of the car inside and out, leave perforamnce up to me

So anyone else got pro's and con's, .. ideas?? t_dot_SiR post, was what I was looking for.. if anyone else can post something up like that it would be great..

if you want to make your ek look like a SiR it pretty cheap
Lip kit 200$
Grille - DIY
Wheels 400-500$
Paint - 300$
Tint - 250$
Tint so from a glance you dont see those ugly seats.

Plus you will need the SiR spoiler, and to properly paint your side moudlings and lip-kit it would be more than $300, but its basically not too much for a rice version. If your are doing the brakes, engine, exhaust, sway bars, etc. then it would add up.
I personally like ek's better, I think the front looks more stylish. Plus they have a more powerful engine and that's what counts in the end (though I hear that because of weight they have very similar performance). They are both good though, so its personal preference in the end.
