Question 16000Km service + warranty stuff where should I go??

Ok guys(ladies ) I just past my 8 months in my new Civic, and although I'm anly at 15 200Km I need to get it in for service.

I'm really wondering where the best place to get an oil/lube and a tire rotation is??

Honda has a deal for $70.00 where you get a bunch of checks along with the oil and tire rotation but the fact that I need some warranty work done means I need to leave the car for the day.

If I get the Type b done I get a loaner car.

If I get the fall/winter service package I don't get a car.

Type b ....$130
Fall/winter package ....$70

Basically they are including the loaner in the price because the only thing that's really different is that they "service the brakes"

It also looks like the type B includes them lubricating stuff. I figured I'd just buy the lubricant myself.

I live in Uxbridge and work nights, so I can't really leave my car for the day while I'm at work.

Warranty work as follows

constant creak at the front of the dash where the dash and window meet.

Drivers map light sticks

trunk needs to be slammed HARD to close it.

How long can I expect them to take correcting these??

My biggest problem is the time thing. I've already figured I can do the oil myself, and spend 10-15 on a tire rotation, but wonder about the warranty work.

Can somebody give me some ideas?

can somebody mention a place where I can get them to do a tire rotation that will allow me to bring my own oil/filter and get them to change it while I wait??

thanks
Brent

Parkway Honda is an affiliate, and a great place to get work done. You can't go wrong with an affiliate dealer when having warranty work done!

A car within 4 years (96000 km) of time should only need:

1) Regular Oil change + Oil filter
2) Tire rotation
3) Tranmission fluid at required mileage
4) Clutch fluid at required mileage
5) Top Break fluid when needed
6) Top Engine Coolent when needed
7) Regular car wash to keep salt and other harmful deposits off the car
8) Misc. items such as wiper blade, windshield fluid, lubricate latches etc.

New tires and new break pads and timing belt and whatnot can be changed at 96000. That's if you drive your car under normal situation. Hondas are built to last. Unless it is OEM failure, your car should last for a long, long time.

So it's safe to assume that doing the oil/filter and tire rotation are all I really need?

Assuming I lubricate hinges myself right?

Brent

This is a LEASED car!

My car on lease as well, although I am keeping it.

Some people just do oil change, and that's it (for 4 years, automatic) and the car still seem fine. But they drive slow and don't abuse it.

LOL...I changed my front pads and rotors at 48000 km, and my rear pads and rotors at 63000 km, and all 4 ball joints at 24000 km and 59000 km (those were under warranty)...I must drive hard I guess Oh, and new tires at 69000 km

BTW, to answer you question, take it to Honda, get your prescribed Type B service and your warranty work done...

Michelle, ya those were based on my own car's spec LOL. I guess a lot of highway mileage changes your service condition.

Get done whatever your maintenance schedule calls for at your current age/mileage. If you don't follow the maintenance schedule, you can void your warranty. Remember if you get the stuff done somewhere other than the dealer, make sure you get receipts to prove the work was done (this is why you may run into problems if you do things yourself).

High mileage does change alot of things...I have service intervals every six weeks

Also, I am a stickler to everything running perfect in my car, I take care of every creak right away...I like it to always drive like new

Even after the 80,000 km I have on it now, it still runs like the day I picked it up

What I meant was, highway will not eat away too much of your break pads, for instance.

Haha...your theory still doesn't work for me...90% of my mileage is highway mileage...back to the age old question (I must drive hard, and brake even harder ) Mind you Jeff always thinks I brake too late...hmmmm

I guess so, everyone drives differently. I still have 15% break pad left after 100k kms.... But I changed them of course.

just wanted to ask you something.
so u decline a scheduled service on tire rotation, how in the world would that void your warranty?????

some lady comes in to change a turn signal bulb!!!
for a 2 min job by swapping out bulbs! $15 bucks!

EL Sport is correct, it can void your bumper to bumper warranty.

Service is the basic maintenance for your vehicle, it may seem that some things are unneccesary, but they are also preventative measures.

Oh, Nova Dust, I changed my pads when they were probably around 30 - 35% left, I also changed the rotors at the same time because it was cheaper than machining them. The breaks weren't bad, just a little too spongy for my driving style

well that would do it and cause the brake wear since the later you brake the more force you have to put on the pads the more wear they encounter....

Don't shoot the messenger, I'm just telling you what Honda/Acura's policy is in terms of warranty coverage. Sure there may be some items on the maintenance schedule that you may not need done at that particular time, but like I said you can save money by not getting them done, but then potentially end up paying alot more down the road if something goes wrong and they will not honour your warranty.
