well it all depends they are legal and their not, i mean they have to be DOT approved, and well etc...my buddy sports one, never got a ticket he gets pulled over, and well cops check the seatbelt if its intact, and well secured....

anything below or a 4 point is legal a a 5 point is way to hard and confusing in case of an emergency and the rescue crew needs to get your *** to a hospital quick time...

also very stupid *** idea to mount the rear shoulder harnesses to the bottom bolts where the rear seats go... or on a 90 degree angle to the floor behind u... u can snap your bones very quik,,, shoulder harnesses must be parellel to the shoulders or a maximum or 15 degrees lower... i think... u can buy harness bars that sit biehind the rear seats and they arent that expensive.,... or just save up 600 and get a nice cage and u MUST cution/faom any area of the cage that is visible or will coem in conctact to any person in the car... hope that helps... anf if u do get a 5 point it must be checked every 2 years i think not sure...

True.

There are a lot of safty issues when it comes to harness. Don't just buy it for looks. The way OEM seatbelts are designed is that when you are hit, you will tend to roll yourself towards the centre of the car due to the angle the seatbelt comes in front of you. So you won't go towards the door side.

Personally unless you have a cage or roll bar a harness isn't the greatest idea. If you roll over without a cage and have a harness say good bye to your noggin'.

I argee with Nova Dust, stock is good for most of what you'll use it for. Even most autocrossing, I don't think they call for a harness.

i'm not sure about street legality of them.... but for racing the harness can't be bolts to the floor board... what you have to do is bolt the shoulder pads to a point that is above your shoulders.... they make bars that connect to where the rear seat belts would bolt into up at the top which is the ideal place to bolt them to.... unless of course you have a roll cage.... which for the street is a little silly cause you should be wearing a helmet all the time

I have one in my car ... it is only for when I autocross... although I have used it on the street .... it's mounted correctly (because I have a harness bar for the shoulder straps)

anyways I don't recommend them for the simple fact that when worn correctly the severaly limit your movement in the car and therefore significantly reduce your ability to check your blind spots.

as for the legality of them I'm unsure. mine I know does not fasten like standard seat belts... (witht he buckle system and push button to release) mine has a latch ... and is very easy to undo.....however is not common for rescue workers to see and therefore could present an issue to them ... so for my safety on the streets I use my regular seat belt.

but on the track where I know the following conditions are met I'll wear my 4 point:

1) rescue workers know how to remove it (if present if I'm at a solo 2 I just make sure someone else there knows)

2) lack of other traffic.... so long as there is a no passing rule .. i.e. solo 1 time trials or a lapping day

yeah...

when your spine aligns itself with the angle of the shoulder belt straps, that's when it'll compress your spine and rupture disks.

if you mount them on the rear deck like you're supposed to, then all is good... or at least have a pivot point using a shoulder bar.
