You passed up potential free money with a fixed car.
You think it will be easier going through insurance? Wait till the adjusters finish with you.. You will probably have a car with a loose mirror.. Then you will go back and fight for another month until they finally fi it all properly.

Way to go smart guy..
#1 get a personality
#2 dunno what body shop u get ur car worked on
#3 yes it is easier for me to go through insurance, how do u know its not easier for me? just cause its not easier for u?
#4 that quote is for all brand new OEM parts and labour, there will be no spot welding to pull out dents, no aftermarket parts
#5 through this claim i will have parts on my car that wasnt originally there

only thing is even if u send him the bill hes just gonna run off.. but whatever insurance is gonna rape him for 7yrs now.. i want 5k+rental+1500 haha he only offering me 2k which doesnt even cover the cost of the new door, mirror, paint and labour. new door at honda is almost 700 and thats just the shell, and mirror is $400.. and labour to install, paint and put all my window stuff back into the new door = $$$$

whatever im goin through insurance less hassle, its done

3500 is steep as all hell but whatever, thats what insurance is for...my insurance has covered well over 20grand in damages and medical expenses and I havent seen an increase ever

I'm with Cynikal on this one. Some guy backed into my car last summer and crushed my bumper. I got a new aftermarket bumper, fender and headlight and a new paint job on the whole car cause they couldn't match the colour for $0 and NO increase. Not at fault = No increase (unless it's in a parking lot.. then its a whole other story)

Damn Eric it looks worse in person. Im sure insurance will take care of you. Your not at fault, so your insurance wont go up. Just make sure your ok body wise, as its not to late to get everything checked out to be sure. Ive been there, and am still going through physio.

Thats exactly what i said earlier...and i agree with Matt here...my insurance dropped as well after i had two not at fault claims...and i dont care if they are on my record.

people are scared ****less of insurance companies all the time. to me...its not as much a 'loosing a claim' issue...its a cash flow issue as well. if that guy is not paying enough...and if u dont wanna go to the insurance (to save that claim later on)....you pay from your own pocket (unless u wanna get a cheap job done overall) and it doesnt make any sense to pay from your own pocket when you have coverage and you are not at fault.

it would have been another story if the guy had paid a decent amount.....

lol eric...$5K+rental+$1500...thats about the value of your car..haha

^^^ No kidding! Talk about a steep asking price. Not to judge you or anything, but if it were me I would have bought aftermarket or used parts and taken the money to get it fixed. Not like your car is brand new, and when everything is painted i the door\fender\1/4 panel are going to look spotless and the rest of the car will still have that faded look. But hey its your car $400 for a mirror! that is crazy, considering you can pick up the same mirror for a fraction of that price and it will look just as good.

I agree completely. Well he's not an IDIOT, he just didn't know any better.

New door = $50-100.

Aside from that, it will NOT cost $3500 to fix that. I would have taken the cash, bought a door, repainted the entire car, and would have had money left over.

Oh well, what's done is done, hopefully you don't get in another accident..........

new door $50 to $100 from where? Don't say a junkyard or tcc classified. Oh wait those would be USED!!!

I would've let the insurance company deal with it. You pay for a service and scared to use it. Can't afford the higher rate? Get rid of some of the extras like collision, or fire & theft.

At least you SiR didn't end up looking like mine.

why shoudl you get a NEW door? was the door he hit a brand new door? no..

the purpose of insurance is to compensate you in a way that leaves you in the same situation (or as close to it) as before you had the accident. Its not manna from heaven.
