2006 civic tune up?
Hey guys, i have a 2006 honda civic dxg manual trans. i have bout 78xxx kms and i have NOT done a tune up since i bought the car!. i know i know. But i have done the regular oil changes. So now im looking to get up my ass and actually get it done but i dont want to go to a Honda dealership as they will rape my money.
I guess my question is, what is involved in a tune up? Im looking to get all my breaks done, rotors.. all spark plugs, wires changed. oil change, trans flush, radiator flush. Am i missing something else? im gonna buy my own parts -and also if anyone knows any good honda mechanics please refer them to me. I use to go to Scott ( dont know his last name) but i lost his contact. He had a shop in woodbridge. THANK YOU FOR WHATEVER INFORMATION YOU GUYS CAN PROVIDE ME. MUCH APPRECIATED!!... |
why do you think you need a tune up?
is the car running rich or consuming too much fuel? how diligently have you been following the factory recommended service? the built in maintenance minder system in the new civics should give you a service symbol...cross check that with the service schedule recommended in the manual to see what is included at what interval. i believe spark plugs are covered in that maintenance but plug wires and/or dcap is not. brakes are rotors are not generally considered a part of a tune up. they are a wear item and are inspected at the prescribed interval as per your manual for wear and tear. its all relative |
well thats thing..i never followed the maintenance schedule .. all ive been doing is oil changes..the car seems to be eating more fuel nowadays..the breaks are pretty worn out..
|
CB Automotive google them they have a website contact them they are "the dealership alternative" both guys worked for honda and they are REALLY good
|
im going to google them ...thanks alot man!

I loosely follow the Maintenance Minder for oil changes and services. According the maintenance scheduler on the Honda.ca website... 12,000 kmReplace rear differential fluid and every 24,000 km thereafter if vehicle is regularly driven in mountainous areas at very low speeds, or if vehicle is frequently used to tow a trailer (4WD Trucks).http://www.honda.ca/HondaCALive/_Global/img/blank.gifEvery 24,000 kmReplace rear differential fluid if vehicle is regularly driven in mountainous areas at very low speeds (S2000).http://www.honda.ca/HondaCALive/_Global/img/blank.gifEvery 24,000 kmReplace air cleaner element if vehicle is regularly driven in dusty conditions.http://www.honda.ca/HondaCALive/_Global/img/blank.gifEvery 24,000 kmReplace dust and pollen filter if vehicle is regularly driven in urban areas with high concentrations of emissions from industry and diesel-powered vehicles.http://www.honda.ca/HondaCALive/_Global/img/blank.gif48,000 kmReplace automatic transmission fluid (V6 Trucks) and transfer case fluid (4WD Trucks) and every 48,000 km thereafter if vehicle is regularly driven in mountainous areas at very low speeds, or if vehicle is frequently used to tow a trailer.http://www.honda.ca/HondaCALive/_Global/img/blank.gif100,000 kmReplace automatic transmission fluid and every 48,000 km thereafter if vehicle is regularly driven in mountainous areas at very low speeds, or if vehicle is frequently used to tow a trailer (Accord)http://www.honda.ca/HondaCALive/_Global/img/blank.gif100,000 kmReplace timing belt if vehicle is regularly driven in very low temperatures (under -29°C; -20°F, V6 only).http://www.honda.ca/HondaCALive/_Global/img/blank.gifEvery 256,000 kmInspect idle speed.http://www.honda.ca/HondaCALive/_Global/img/blank.gifEvery 3 yearsReplace brake fluid.http://www.honda.ca/HondaCALive/_Global/img/blank.gif |

Roughly 300 and something on a d16y8. This was about 2.5 years ago and was a little cheaper because I paid cash.
