sure, and your 300whp on two front wheels is going to do you lots of good and if you have like another $20,000 to drop in your car...

but when u get a stock 700kg car running 180hp with like 180ft/lbs of torque with 4 wheel drive and a locking differential... ahhhh, its one of mazda's hidden gems...

its ugly as **** though, but its quick...

and the o6si is nice, but don't dream too much about 300whp unless you want your baby to be uncomfotable in the back seat cause its still a family car, isn't it?

**************Hahahaha, i could take you with my ek lol**************

yeah 300 hp but 180 torque.

180 hp/180 torque.

Mazda BP 1.8L is like 135hp/ 140 tq respectively

Yes, if you wanted to get laid , get a 06 si, if you want to have a few laughs and a ton of priceless stoplight jaw drop, "holy expletive, i just got my *** handed to me by that pos" then the GTX is the car for you.

dont you worry about 300whp, it will come, and a 2 door si isnt exactly what i would call a family car.

Wow.. I haven't been on TCC forum for a long time.. I think I've been out too much.. but anyway..

I drive the 06 SI.. and I'll compare it to my 2000 SiR..

For the person with the DBW question.. like someone said earlier.. experienced drivers hate it ... and newer drivers love it.. One of the main reasons is cause when you press the cluth down.. the car will stay reved for a second or two.. meaning it is harder to stall.. and if you are an experienced driver.. thats a pain in the butt cuz it throws your timing off... I've heard several times that people say DBW lags.. and I suppose it does a bit... but not enough to make a difference.. atleast thats my feel on it..

Regarding the people who said they'll rather get another car for $30g .. well the 06 si on the road is $30g.. so the is300s, imprezas, type S's are about $40g on the road..

The 06 SI is a lot faster than my 2000 SiR (no brainer) .. turning is a lot faster and smoother cause of the LSD.. interior is amazing.. I HATE the stacked or dual dashboard.. the seats feel amazing.. and I actually like the exterior.. One really big problem is unlike most cars, this car will take some time to get use to. The short front end will take a bit of time to realize where it really cause you can't see the front of ur vehicle inside the car.. and when you are turning you cant see the apex or the curb of the turn when you are too close. This is because the metal frame of the door is much larger and higher. I'm not saying that you won't get use to it, but it is different from most cars. It took me personally a week or 2.

Just 2 nights ago I was trying out my friends 03 RSX type S with a V2 intake while he was trying out my car. the 06 SI in the higher RPM range feels like vtec hits harder eventho this car is i-Vtec. Unlike the 03 SiR where the power just feels the same throughout the whole band. The handling is much better than the 03 RSX-S just due to the LSD, IT REALLY MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE!.

But when comparing it to the 05 RSX, when dragging.. sorry Civic 06 SI owners.. you have no chance in hell! that *claimed* 13 hp difference will give the 05 type S a half a car finish.

Anyway to wrap it all up.. I'm loving my 06 SI.. the Sub that comes with it is great.. turning is what I wanted.. seats feel nice.. and this car is for sure an attention grabber!

What I hate tho.. I have Rallye Red.. but it is NOT RED ENOUGH! compared to my old 2000 SiR.. I don't like it how they don't have enough mods for it yet.. for example I'm sitting on my A$$ hoping they would have a V2 coming out soon, or for anybody to release an aftermarket front CF lip. I thinkt he Rims are ugly.. and I really want more power.. I'm feeling the the 13 hp difference between the 05 RSX and the 06 SI..

This is just my opinion on the car.. as you can probably tell I'm more of a person who buys a car for the power and handling as opposed to the exterior look of the car... so I know for sure opinions will differ.. This is how I feel about the car and many people may think differently. I don't mean to offend anybody.. but please give me some feed back aswell.

Question

Actually the WHP of the stock 06 SI is only about 163 WHP and about 119 of torque.. this dynno info was provided by AEM.

for HP graph
http://www.aempower.com/pdf/dyno/21-...-Si_CAS-HP.pdf

for torque graph
http://www.aempower.com/pdf/dyno/21-...-Si_CAS-TQ.pdf

and I don't know what kinda car is giving you 300 WHP.. but the STI doesn't even have 300whp and that car is more than $20,000 just like what the other posted earlier. There is an 06 SI that was at the SEMA show that they boasted to be 400hp (i'm not too sure if it was whp or not) with only an aem intake(less than $400), the 4-2-1 ceramic DC race header (less than $800), the DC exaust(less than $800) and a greddy turbo( I don't know the price of this one but it is for sure less than $10g)

its the weight of the car... it has lots of power, but it is heavier with all those comforts... my ek is lighter... and with a lsd tranny a and an gsr or something... you would never catch me!!!
especially around corners... hahaha, even without an lsd, lots of cars can't keep up and thats just cause i come at them so fast... hahaha, but at least with an lsd i could finally accelerate harder digging that rubber in harder giving me more traction!!! and elimate that understeer ... oh, when my engine swap comes...

oh, and you answered your own question about the vtec kicking in.... you showed the graphs... if you look at the power curve it is harsh from like 6000-7200... there is like a 60hp jump in there between 1200rpms... thats like a shot of nos... thats pretty sick actually...

BUT... Don't get me wrong, i think the new SI kicks ***... and i am jealous of all of you guys... but, you have to see where i am coming from... i can't envy others and have to be happy with what i have! hahaha...

there is a misprint on those graphs, apartently AEM didnt dyno tune the final SI, there was a guy from the states that dynoed a stock si and he said that he turned out 192whp. so i dont know what to believe.

192whp., say 15% drive train loss

220 at the flywheel?

impossible

btw... i think I saw you Dmc84 around richmondhill.

that red is the only color that looks good for the new civic..

it really needs some aftermarket cosmetics tho., and weightloss program

I agree.. the SI is a FAT ****! lol.. actually it weighs more than the RSX type S by a few pounds.. but hey I love the old ek.. I know 2 people now who are planning to swap K20's in to those cars.. now thats madd sick.. that'll be something I'll be dreaming about.. so no need to be jealous of the SI.. cuz all civics have a lot of potential.. just depends what you could or wanna do to it.

whoa.. okay if thats a misprint.. I dunno what to believe either.. but if it is 192 whp... thats freaking amazing! .. I doubt it tho

civic?eww?y?: .. I was actually planning on getting a blue or a black one.. but then the past 2 cars I owned were red.. so.. RED it is! Weight loss.. I dunno if I'll be doing much.. but probably around summer it'll have a V2 (if it comes out) and the dc manifold and catback exaust.. actually.. really depends if I wanna spend my money on a trip.. my girlfriend.. or my car.. tough choice :P

I'm always around the markham and richmond hill area.. or driving to work from markham to mississauga.. so if you see a red SI.. thats probably me..

Dmc84, your car actually looks pretty good...I just dont like the front nose...it kinda pisses me off how short the front is

You and I along with probably alot of people prefer the EK styling, and proportions. But that styling seems likes it going to be gone for another 10yrs +.

The new civic however... is a huge step up from the previous gens.

I love how theres so many new features on the car. Like steering wheel audio controls, and that new s2000 style digital speedometer. Would of been nice if tach was lower key, and more jdm for the lack of a better description.

I hear these cars perform marvelously on the the track. Enjoy it man.. If possible I'd like to meet up with you sometime so I can check the car out. I still havent experienced the k20z mated with a 6spd and hlsd.

=) take care dude
