2003 Civic Si Won't Start

I haven't posted in a while.

Last winter my 2002 Si Veloz was having starting problems. After 3 months of uncertainty, the dealership replaced it with a 2003 Si in March...

Everything was wonderful until it turned cold the beginning of December and alas, this car is having starting problems too...it won't even boost, it just makes a clicking noise...

They've replaced the battery twice now and can't find anything else wrong...

Has anyone experienced this problem? Or heard of anyone else who has?

is the fuel system pressurizing ? (it's a distinct noise you can hear under the hood when you turn the switch to the ON position without starting the car....

maybe you have a bad starter motor as well....

or maybe a bad ignition coil but I'm not sure how the new ignition systems work so I wouldn't know where to check

shyt...again?? with a whole new/different car??
no weird dash lights coming on before things go fer a shyt??

starting to think you live near ufo's or sumtin' debs

two cars, 2 different years even...there's nothing out of the ordinary installed on this one either??

recommend checking out 7thgencivic.com..
they're like here with the forums etc. but they deal with strictly 2001+

The dealer told my fiance when she bought hers that anything metal, or too many keys on the key chain interferes with some signal or something because they keys are coded. Maybe b/s but hers starst every time.

i own 2 2002 civics and have no problems
check your wires and also do u have any accessory that is always on mabe its somthing simple the dealer over looked.
Call a differnt dealer and see if there is a recall on the car or somthing.
good luck

No problems with my 03 EL either. I did have a few starting problems when I initially got the car, but that turned out to be a defective alternator which was replaced and no problems since.

I have a 2003 LX and have had no problems with the car yet. I hope if anything does go wrong it happens soon cause warranty will be up shortly.

I'm assuming that they replaced the battery twice in your 2003? ...and this corrected the problem? If so, then it's probably the same deal again.

Do you have any aftermarket stereo equipment or other accessories installed in the car that might use more power?

Do you listen to the stereo or use other electronic devices powered by the car's battery, such as a lap top for example while the car's motor is off?

If there's no logical explanation for the problem, maybe you can get a 2004 now...

The clicking noise happens when you try to start the car right?
Does your radio work and your door locks?
Does the clicking noise sound like it is coming from the Insturment panel?

To me from what you are describing is what happens to new cars that have to be PDI'd (pre delivery inspection). You have to install two fuses under the hood in the fuse box. One being a 7.5 amp and a 10 amp these fuses are for the accesories and something else can't remember at this moment. Also they have to run the car for ten minutes for the computer to learn everything.

Also which ever honda dealership you are going to tell them to do a AVR test. This will determine if there is something wrong with your battery and or charging system.

Wasn't there a call back on Honda models 2001 and up for a possiblility of a bit of water being left in the fuel pump that may cause corrosion......

Some things will be OK but we've hit the 32 000 km mark and it's only been 7 months. It won't be long before we hit 60 000 km. Plus with the car having Krown rust protection done the body protection warranty is void anyways.
