1996 civic BB recall on assembly???

i have been having brake problems with my car and it feels like i have no assist when i am braking and have to push the pedal to the floor and it barely works... i was searching and nobody can figure it out... my brakes are adjusted properly and everything... i came across this and what do u guys think? how can i check to see if i am part of the recall?

Make: HONDA
Model: CIVIC
Affected Year(s): 1996
Units Affected: 21006
TC Recall #: 1996090
Manufacturer:
Campaign Code:

Recall Details
THE BRAKE BOOSTER CHECK VALVES ON THESE VEHICLES WERE ASSEMBLED INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM HOSE USING A SOAPY LUBRICANT. THIS SOAPY LUBRICANT MAY EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE CHECK VALVE TO STICK WHICH COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF THE BRAKE'S POWER ASSIST. CORRECTION: THE MASTER POWER CHECK VALVE HOSE WILL BE CLEANED BY WASHING THE HOSE WITH HOT WATER.

thats seems exactly like the problem i am having.

PM me your VIN number and I'll check Hondacom tomorrow when I'm back at work to see if you have any outstanding recalls on your car.

Cheers,
Buddah.

yea sounds like a booster related problem, more then likely the check valve as stated.

easy way to rule it out would be to put a hose in place of the factory one and see if with the car running you have power assist with the brakes. If you do then your problem lies in the check valve, if this is the case you can cut it out and get one from an integra or eg which goes in-line to replace it.

Hey Mike let me know if that solved anything I drive a 99 and I recently changed my MC and it has come back to haunt me again. Going to get Scott Newman to check it out again soon. But yeah same problem, mushy brakes and I need to press further for any kind of braking to begin

i have the same problen on my si coupe 96 as well...
got two mechanics to inspect, they can't seem to find where the problem is... not like the braking power really decreased a lot, but the pedal do feel like it goes mushy and all the way, inspect the mc, and its all good........ its the mushy pedaling that scares me... in terms of braking, not quite noticeable difference detected by my mechs as well...

maybe buddah, you can run my vin too? thanks
