1992 Civic SI Failed e-test

Hi there,
Can i have your input....
Took my 1992 Civic Si for e-test, FAILED!

I have a new cat (2 days), new plugs, oil change, Sunoco 94 in it.

Failed the ASM525 Test
LIMIT RESULT
HC PPM 75 21 PASSED
CO% .42 .01 PASSED
NO PPM 576 1275 FAILED!!!!!

As far as i know its stock. I replaced the cat cuz i knew it was done but still failed. I ran it for awhile and it was nice and warm when it was tested. Possible EGR valve or does it even have one? The only mod is "loud" muffler and regular cheapy intake with a new filter. What do you think? Or does anyone know where i can get an "e-test" pass? Thanks.

try it just 87 cuz wit 94 all the unburned fuel goes thru the EGR and there still that little bit that doesnt burn... and when u start your car up in the morning.. does the car puff any smoke (besides white). and wat does it smell like because that can also be the O2 sensor

not to knock any of u but your anwsers about the gas is wrong change your o2 sensr and adjust your timing and you should be good to go.
1 more thing if you did yuour plugs did you gap them properly?
that is something i would check while im there just to be 100% sure.
i have an obd1 o2 sensor i will sell you for $50 if you want.

Is the O2 oem or aftermakerket? Is it new? Do you know where the EGR valve is loacted on the 92 SI motor? I was leaning toward o2 and timing. I think (hope)its timing.

isnt there an incentive that the gov't offers?
where if you spend xx amount to fix the car and the car still doesnt pass they will either fund the rest of the bill or you automatically get it passed?
i read about it at a drive clean certified location.

Yes Team Rukus. It's called a conditional pass. If the amount of repairs exceed 450 bucks, then you get a conditional pass without repairing anything...it's good for another 2 years...but, after that time, you will have to repair the problem if you wish to continue driving the car after that time as expired. On the other hand, if it costs 449 dollars to fix the problem that will allow you to pass the emissions test, then you must pay that amount right away to fix the problem if you wish to continue to drive the car.

Cheers,
Buddah.

the cat u installed how long did u run it in your car for. i know u said it was installed for two days but how hard did u run it to get it hot enough and broken in for a bit i was told when i had mine installed to drive for about 4-5 days to get it fully functional. At that time i was running a turbo d16 and it failed on the NO as well but then passed right after with oem cat

Gas line antifreeze is your friend when going for an e test. Add 4 125ml bottles to a full tank and always test your car when the engine is warmed up. And always use the reccomended fuel grade, in this case 87.

test the car cold. Considering hc reading is low and co reading is really low, it should pass when the car is cold. I had same problem. I changed cat's, o2, tune up stuff and still failed no. Run it cold and it should pass.

I think that is going to be the way to go...test it cold...I will change coolant and thermostat anyways. I still laso need to check timing, but I don't think its off that much to make a difference.
