17' rims on 08 civic help
hey you guys, i was wondering if anyone can suggest a perfect fitment for 08 civic coupe w/o any bumping and grinding...
i am looking for 17 inch rims..need to know the perfect tire size and wheels. anyone know? |
Whatever you like.
Me personally I hate 17's there big, heavy, and kill your acceleration and gas mileage. I would look in'to 16"s or lower. |
seriously?i'm so noob...didn't know it kills gas...hmmm...16's eh? never even thought of 16's. since gas is 115.2 today...i should rethink
|
Think about it....the bigger wheel and rim will have more rotating mass then a smaller wheel. It takes more rpm to move the wheel around then a smaller set-up.

What size rim does your car come with stock?? |
I'm thinking 16" would suit your car nicely. 15" might not fill your rim well out to much, unless you planned on a drop?
|
he is driving an 8th gen...not an older civic on which 17s would be too big. plus moving from 16 to 17 will not make any material difference in terms of gas mileage. dont buy them rice projector headlights and that will pay for gas.
215-45-17 is the size you need. there should be no bumping or grinding...go for it. |
I believe 06+ Sis come with 17s...they should fit and look fine...although 16s would probably look good also, and be cheaper...
|
hey guys...i have dx-g...comes w/ 15'stock...rice projector?so you've seen my other posts?

DX has 15s, EX has 16s and Si has 17s... as long as you get a tire size similar to that, you should be fine |
Unless you got a very heavy set of wheels, you would notice any significant loss in performance or economy. Get some 40lb dubbs and you would. 16's look very small on an 06+ Civic IMO. My car looked dumb when it was on its winter wheels. 17x7 with a +45 offset if what the factory wheels are and they would fit perfect.
Also remember when going from a 15 or 16" tire with a tall sidewall like a 55 or 60, to a 17" tire with a 45 sidewall, you will notice a stiffer ride in most cases. |
ok..so i've decided to go w/ 17's, does that i mean i need low profiles?
|
yes...you do

keep in mind 205/40 will be pretty much the same, granted a tad (and i do mean tad) small, and shorter, but tires tend to be cheaper EX: FALKEN FK452 215/45/17 $610 205/40/17 $530 FALKEN RT615 215/45/17 $670 205/40/17 $590 etc etc I stole these from tire23 our sponser |
yes but with the 40 profile, his rims will be more close to the ground ;-)
