i bought an 05 si in feb this year....

they dealership told me the first oil change to bring it in at 10,000 kms because the car had a special oil to break in the engine, after that i've been taking it in just under the 8000km mark

i did a lot of driving this year, the car had 9kms on it when i picked it up in feb, now i'm at 31255 kms

I wonder where you can buy this special break in oil?

After the first oil change I'm going to be running Mobil 1. umm any idea what kind of oil the new civics takes? 5w20 I would assume.

Which kinda sucks, because I have about 10L of Mobil 1 5w30 in my garage.

Honda's require a break in, the first oil change should be 8000km to 12000 km because of the oil additive that is applied by the manu.
and yes they do take 5w20.
Honda has been doing this since 2001 and 02 on the cr-v.

So far the wait is about Mid-Jan to Feb for basicly the DX-G and EX models.

If you want an Si model Newmarket Honda has a grey one still up for sale as of 6pm tonight. My sales guy said it was almost sold 3 times already, but each buyer credit wasn't good enough.

My EX in Dark Blue 4dr auto should be in very soon. Since I bought my car on the 22 of Dec. I'm hoping that I'll be able to get the $1500 in cert. from Honda's Dec 26 to Jan 3 promo. It's something I'm going to ask my sales guy about.

Still Waiting on my Civic

I purchased my 06 Civic EX Coupe from SISLEY Honda on November 16 and was told the wait would be anywhere between 1-8weeks. I called my dealer in early december and was told my car was being manufactured on Dec 15 and it would take 1-2 weeks for it to arrive at the dealership. I stopped by the dealership to talk to my dealer and he told me that he never remembered telling me Dec 15 as the manufacture date He told me that it had 0% chance of arriving in December but 4sure in the first few weeks of January...so he said. I called today to check up on the car and i now find out that January is out of the question also! I am considering cancelling my order and getting a different car I know Civics are worth the wait but i need a car b4 my school starts in Feb. I am highly considering "downgrading" my car to either a Mazda 3 or Nissan Altima

If your considering the Mazda 3 I would check the Toronto Mazda 3 Forum first and look at the common problems they have. It might sway you from getting one. My family was considering one over the the Civic but the cockpit seemed to tight and after reading about some common electrical problems and manufacturer defects from the Mazda 3 Forum we decided to stick with the civic. Someone at School who owned a Mazda 3 informed me about some issues. Plus I believe Ford makes a lot of the parts that go into the 3

They told me I had to wait 6-7 weeks for the Prelude when I bought it in 2001. I told them I would only wait for 2 weeks, and after that they would have to give me a dealer car to drive around until my car came in. They agreed, and miraculously the Prelude was in in 2 weeks. Be firm, and tell them about the hardships you are having waiting, tell them you will call Honda Canada's Customer Relations about this. I purchased at Whitby Oshawa Honda.

If the dealer you're dealing with doesn't have the model and colour you want, ask if they can do a dealer trade to get it. If not, threaten to leave and take your business elsewhere. I was told that my Civic would take over a month to get. They did a trade with another dealer and I had it in 2 weeks.

Will work sometimes if your dealer has a good relationship with other dealers.

But some dealers wont give up their civic stock since it takes so long to replinish it...

i work at a hyundai dealership and i can definately tell you that the dealer trade thing does not always work... some dealers dont like eachother and some dealers will not give up stock that they know they can sell... that was how i got my civic too because they refused to dealer trade it out...

thanks for the replies. one more thing i forgot to add is that i am currently driving the trade in car which is a 2001 Civic LX Sedan. It is fully purchased and i believe 88k. It has been highly taken care of with all oil changes and work up to date. We recieved 9k for the car 10.4k off in the end. It is part of the down payment.

I really liked the idea of getting a dealership loaner car for the time being because it hurts them the most...i am thinking of giving them a deadline or else i'll cancel the contract ...something like Jan 16 ---which was the longest it would take for the car to arrive when i purchased i was told 1-8 weeks back on Nov 16. Telling the dealer about the hardships of not having the car and everything doubt it would work (*most*dealers have no hearts) polish prince is exempt...lol

Either way. the 06 does weigh much more then the EG and EK Civics, but its a much better built, more refined, better equipted car. You can't really even compare them. MY car drivesand feels more like a TSX then my old Civic.
Sorry what I qouted is curb weight not dry weight which is what the dealer's will qoute.

I spoke to my dealer a few days ago, and he said he's expecting my car to be here by the 2nd week of January.. so yours should be in that shippment if you ordered in November
