wheel offset

Just looking for some advice on what rim/tire sizes I should use for my 99 Civic coupe. I had rims on that were 17x7 +42 offset and tire size of 215/40/17. They rubbed on the fender liner on sharp turns, and just didn't feel right. I'm going for 15's/16's now and I'm just wondering what a good size of tire/rim offset would be. Cheers.

There are many people running EK's with a 15x8 +25 with a 195/45 and 195/50 tire. I'm running 205/45/16 and a 16x7 +35 rim and i only rub on the fender because its a little low, tucking the tops of the tires. Otherwise they'd be fine..
So. 7" width is what youll prolly get... +30 to +45 is safe, and will almost for sure require no modification to fender liner, fender lips or whatever.

edit: i wouldnt go wider than 205s, and nothing bigger than a 45 sidewall if you go with 205.. 195 you can use a 50 series.

theres a couple pics to give you an idea of how the wheels sit in the fenders. i did not modify anything, and i only rub occasionally, on a hard left turn. (2nd pic is old, new parts and its lower now.. but you get the idea)
