Tire Load Index

I am looking at winter tires for my 2000 Civic DX but the load index is 82 and I see the factory tires are 87.

I was thinking, the 82 can handle 1000 pounds and it is hard for me to imagine my car ever being near 4000 pounds so I think it would be OK.

Just wondering what you guys think about it.

**** man, I work at costco tire centre and I sell tires all day every day. I've honestly never seen 82's, and for that reason i'd say you've found some very very budget no name tires for stupid cheap.

There is no way in hell I'd put em on, no thanks not worth my life. especially since I could get Bridgestone potenza grids for like $80 Each.... 185/65r14 89H

Where did you figure out that 87s are good for 4000 lbs, I'd love to know.

Tire data is here:

I figured ~4000 pounds for the 82s.

The tires are Nordic wintertracks, not too bad from the reviews i have looked at. Certainly better than all-season in the snow.

The 1992 Civic came with 82's and was 2100 pounds, my 2000 is about 2400 pounds.
