rear brake question

Hi, I have a 97 civic coupe, its a U.S car. has 4 wheel disc. i need to replace rears, it looks like an si model (cdn). i went to canadian tire and they dont offer rear disc for an si. I bought a set of sir rear rotors and pads. when i removed the rotors they were identical. i installed them but the wheel didn't spin so nice. passenger seemed as if e brake was on slightly...i drove car for a few km car just seems like its getting hung up in the rear. when i got back the center of the wheel was pretty hot... fronts not at all.
please help this is my daily driver and i went to canadian tire to get the ate's on sale. also e brake was loosened to make sure it wasnt on or binding
thanks

were both sides hot or just one side? Could be a bad caliper.

you have the right parts, you just botched the install. try again, including inspecting and lubricating the moving parts. then when you button everything up with the piston retracted, everything should glide real smooth by hand. when you retracted the caliper, did it turn easily?

^^ yup.
You have the right parts. As mentioned above, redo the brakes and lubricate all parts. The piston in the caliper could be seizing up, also make sure the metal clips where pad slides in are clean and free of rust.

Also check the caliper float slides/pins. They are notorious for seizing up. Your caliper piston may be fine, but if the caliper can't float, it'll cause premature/uneven pad wear.

Funny, this just happened to me. Except my passenger side rear rotar was glowing red after a 5 minute drive. I redid the entire brake job and it seems ok now. I assumed the previous owner never did the brakes, rear caliper was holding on too tight (seized) Once the pads wore down a bit I was alright
