Hi Guys,

My little bro is picking up a 1998 DX HB tonight and needs winters ASAP.

I was under the impression that 13 inch steelies would fit, but I called 2 Honda dealerships and one said 13's "weren't recommended" and the other said the 13's wouldn't clear the brakes.

I have also tried Tire Rack, 1010 Tires, Discount etc and their tire calculators don't list 13's as options for the 1998 DX.

I know it may not be recommended, but they don't list 15's for my car either yet they fit with no problems.

I tried calling several tire shops but can't get through.

So, do 13 inch steelies fit a stock 1998 Civic DX HB?

The plan was to run 175-70-13 winter tires.

dx have the small brakes so yea...they do fit

13's should fit, why not run 14's to be safe?

Cheaper rims and rubber.

He found a local guy selling 13 inch steelies with Michelin X-Ice tires for $250 that he wants to jump on, I just want to be sure they fit.

I researched and apparently the Civic's went to 14 inch rims in 1997. Was that because of bigger brakes than 1996 or just to go with 14's?

alright, I spoke to Billy at Tires23 and he confirmed 13's will not fit.

13's came on the cx trim i believe. theyll fit on the other trims except for si and sir becaese ive put them on before but the clearance between the caliper is real tight. go with 14's!

He got a deal on a set of 14 winters and scored a set of 14 rims as well.
