HELP! PLEASE! Tires and rims 2001 Civic Sedan
 

Hello. I tried searching everywhere on the forum and google but I got fed up and decided to just ask because I couldn't find anything consistant. :ranger:

A buddy of mine has a 2001 Civic sedan with 14s and he's decided on the rims he wants. They're 16" Enkei T-Forks. We have two problems.

#1 what offset should he be running without rubbing 38 or 45?

#2 what tire size on these 16" x 7 rims would fit without rubbing and would not throw off his speedo? (I thought 205/45/16 would work)

Any help is greatly appreciated thanks in advance!

i think 205/45/16 are good on an 01 i seen guys with 17's on thier 01 sedans 205 are ok im running 205/50/15 on my 97 and its lowered and theres no problem i think those rims will fit fine

205/50/16 is the correct size for 01 to 05 civics

I calculated:

15x6.5
Offset: +40mm
Backspacing: 5.08"
Bolt Pattern: 4-100
Tire Size:195/60-15

15x6.5
Offset: +40mm
Backspacing: 5.51"
Bolt Pattern: 4-100
Tire Size:195/60-15

16x7
Offset: +38mm
Backspacing: 5.51"
Bolt Pattern: 4-100
Tire Size:215/50-16

17x7
Offset: +38mm
Backspacing: 5.51"
Bolt Pattern: 4-100
Tire Size:215/45-17

So the offset we need is the 38mm :)

I'm still not sold on the tire size. I did the calculations to match 16's to match the closest circumfrance to his current size. Am I doing it wrong???

We've settled on 205's only because we don't want a stretch look but we don't want a bubble tire either.

I'm going hurt myself because this is my second double post in this thread.....but for comparison sake this is his current tire size.
185/70R14 By this the diameter of his wheel plus tire is:

14" + ((185mm * 0.70 * 2) / 25.4) = 24.20"

By comparison 205/45R16 would have a wheel and tire diameter of:

16" + ((205mm * 0.45 * 2) / 25.4) = 23.26" ( - 0.94" OD)

16" + ((215mm * 0.50 * 2) / 25.4) = 24.46" ( + 0.26" OD)

16" + ((205mm * 0.50 * 2) / 25.4) = 24.07" ( - 0.13" OD)

So I was definitly wrong eh?

So those guys out there with 2001 Civics you're running 205/50/16 or 215/50/16?

We really don't want a "stretched" look since he's not going to lower.

Here's a link to a tire size calculator, you put in the oem size and then you put in the new size, and you will see the difference in the Sidewall/Radius/Diameter/Circumference/Revs,Miles from stock to new rim and tire.

A 205/50/16 would be the closes to the stock size of 185/70/14

if you're not going to lower go with the slightly bigger sidewall to reduce the effect of the 4X4 look and use 215/50/16. If lowering the best look is 205/50/16 and if you're slamming it you can even go with 205/45
