Aren't you supposed to be broke and selling (sold) your car?

As for the tires, I hear they're new but nothing else.

Take a look at 1010tires.com they provide you with ratings and customer reviews. Also tirerack.com is a good tire site. I prefer 1010tires.

After google imaging and looking at the tread, they look like they'd be alright on ice (depending on the softness of the compound), but probably not that great in semi-deep or deep snow. If the compound is soft enough, they would make a decent winter tire. Not being able to see one in person, it's hard to make that judgement.

Don't buy a winter tire based on it's manufacturing company. Buy them based on their rubber compound/materials and tread pattern if you want the best winter performance.

Taken from a review article on Eurotuner on February 9th/2009...

"The core elements are the asymmetric tread design, high volume circumferential grooves, multi-angled sipes, and a special new silica compound. Big, beefy tread blocks sit outside for cornering and dry traction, while the inside tread provides maximum traction in the snow and rain.
Although they meet severe snow service requirements, under the most extreme deep snow and ice conditions, the HS439 won’t provide the traction of a traditional winter or studded ice tire in deep snow."
