Do you torque yours?

Who here uses a torque wrench with a certain setting, to tighten the lug nuts? I used to work for a rim/tire shop in high school and they used to torque each lug nut once while its up on the hoist.. and again while it's on the ground...

most mech shops just drill that **** back on...

just wanted to see what kind of feedback there is on this topic.

I torque my lugs when the car is on the ground. hand tighten + little more then torque.

Depending on what i am doing, i may torque other bolts.

when i do this to my own car, or at the auto shop i work at, we all use a toque limiter bar that limits the torque you gun on with the air gun, then while its on the ground we torque each lug to 5 ft-lbs more than the required specs

I just use these:

And when it's not available, I use a 3/4" drive torque wrench.

at the honda dealer i work at the techs use torque bars when the cars on the hoist then recheck with a torque wrench when on the ground.

These or a torque wrench is fine. Better to torque than overrighten or worse... undertighten.

I always try and use a torque wrench. I'll use it EVERYTIME I put on new brakes or do a wheel bearing.

Hand tight with ratchet, then torque by hand, every time. Car sitting on the ground.
