brakes

got 08 cord sedan auto for daily and this thing starting to make noise whenever I brake on city speed or residential area speed. It started as metal grinding sound of some sharp noise and I went to garage to take a look they said that the pad is okay and got lots of life left in em but it has 27K on it whats covered under honda warranty I think maybe time to change pad, rotors, calipers, springs in side brake assembly. Or is this simple Honda thing to have such noise? I heard this day and age people who make brake pads install small metal parts inside pad so we can hear this metal sound to warn us its time to change the pad.

Most pads have wear tabs/indicators. As the pad wears down, then there is minimal friction material left on the pad, this wear tab scrapes against the rotor and squeals, indicating to the driver that the pads are near the end of their life.

Brakes are not a warranty item. You should only need to replace the pads and possibly the rotors. The calipers do not need to be replaced, especially only at 27k. What they will do is 'service' them. Clean and re-lube the float slide pins etc...

No where in the warranty policy does it say you must service your brakes or replace them to remain under warranty.

To service brakes you're probably looking at $150-$200 when all said and done at the dealer. If you bring it by HiVelocity, you can have a honda technician (myself) service your brakes for half the price of the dealer.

I just read your first post. Is the squeeling from the rear? The rears seize all the time and it's covered under warranty.

correct, the '08+ accord coupe and sedans have a Honda TSB regarding the brakes.

take it back to your dealership and complain a bit. it'll be covered...the other warranty TSB issue is creaking from the rear deck area of your car.

good luck
