Exclamation Brake heat shield help!

For a few weeks now my 95 hatch has been making a weird noise when I hit any little bump, keeps getting louder. So today I said screw it and took off the wheel to see what it was and yup its the drivers side brake heat shield, it was so rusty it was just chilling there lol I just pulled it off... no tools needed lol.
My question is, is it ok to just leave it off or should I buy one to replace it?

Thanks

You should be ok. Some cars font even have a heat shield and Ive had many cars that had that shield rot/break off and it never seemed to negatively affect anything.
