Best tire for 2005 civic

Alright I'm looking for the "best" premium summer tire that users on the board have. Before I get flammed I do not want to change from OE size. I do not want to upsize to 15 or greater. I just sold my SI FAT FIVE rims because of increased RIDE height last season without lowering it its FUGLY. I didn't want to lower it because of insurance reasons in case something happened. I really liked the FAT FIVE's but just too 4x4 ish.

2005 Civic 4DR VP

In essense I'm looking for best 185/70/14 tire I can get in terms of wet performance for summer. I have a dedicated Winter Set. I understand their isn't much in the way of performance for 14 but there has to be somethign "decent".

I am looking at 450-500 installed for the budget.

I may or may not sell the car in August OR pass it down to my sister and upgrade to somethign 4dr AWD 6speed.....but in the meatime I don't want to wear out the winter tires.

If anyone has some reviews or reccomendations please let me know. Still riding on winters so need to make a decision by end of week. I'll even drive to buffallo if its way cheaper.....I'd rather come to the GTA though but live in KW.....

Ok, the RIM size does not change the ride height. The tire size does. When you up size your rims, you must use the correct tire size to maintain the same overall tire diameter of the stock tire size. So don't blame the rim size for increased ride height. Blame incorrect tire size.

Best summer tire IMO is the falken Azenis RT615K. They make them in various 14" sizes.

MAYBE i was kind of unclear.

I paired the 15's with 195/60/15 whichis the CLOSEST i could find for overall diameter to the OE 14 size....less than half a mm in difference. so incorrect tire size i believe was not the issue. sorry for the confusion in my post.

with regards to your recocmendations i will get pricing and check the reviews...

so far it loks like i am leaning towards th emichelin hydroedge tires.....even with the 100 bux extra per set on avg from quotes i've recieved so far.....
the problem was having was the ride comford due because as the tire gets bigger the road bumps were felt much more lol.

I just got Michelin Hydroedges put on my 05 civic Si. So far they are great and the only tire to carry a 140k mile warranty. That being said, the hydroedge is an all season tire not a summer tire. I thought when the tire got bigger the bumps get felt less??

You mean as the rim got larger the tire size decreased and gave you a poorer ride quality right?

A larger tire would have more sidewall and make the ride quality better.

Rim, metal thing inside. Tire, rubber thing outside.
Think you maybe mixing the too and causing the confussion.

Hydroedge tire is an all season, but good luck driving it in any snow. Had that tire on my sedan for a while, ended up getting rid of them. They are awful.
