What do i need

If i wanted to put an h22 in my 91 accord i know i dont need anything in terms of engine mounts but i still need the H22 plus ecu right?

how much am i looking at spending here for a GOOD job engine & install and what can i expect in terms of longevity of the engine also what can i expect of the fuel mileage. IM A NEWB to honda so im wondering if an H22 is a v6 or v4?

THanks for your help!

If you dont even know what an H22 even is maybe now is not the right time for a swap, please dont swap your engine just for bragging rights or because your friends are all doing it. Find an Accord forum (there are many) and start doing your research, hell even jump on HondaTech and do some reading about different swaps and combo's and maybe you will change your mind on what you want to do, at the very least you will gain alot of knowledge along the way.

H22 is a 4 cylinder engine.

Younes Si 06-Sep-2005 05:16 PM

all old accords are 4cly besides the new ones

electronblue 06-Sep-2005 05:17 PM

H22 is the most popular swap for the older Accords.

I recommend you look into the JDM H23 instead.

In case you don't know, the H22 is the DOHC Vtec motor found in the Preludes 92 - 01 SRV/SH (and base later on). Horsepower depends on year of motor.

Accords have had an option for a V-6 since 1994 to be more exact.

electronblue 06-Sep-2005 09:10 PM

I don't think the H23 is that much more expensive for what you get. It is not an open deck motor like the H22 (comes already sleeved from factory and thats a huge savings if you ever want to boost)

I do think you will need to change mounts in a 1991 Accord (not exactly sure) but you will forsure need motor and ECU. Tranny from a 91 Accord may work (I'd change it anyway with LSD tranny more $$$ but worth it IMO).

BTW, don't mind Thrill_House somebody peed in his corn flakes a few weeks ago and has been bitchy ever since :D

Actually, 1995 Model Year to be exact...

"1995 saw the arrival of the first V6 engine in an Accord. Available in the LX or EX Sedans"

Sorry, I had to get in my 2 cents....

Accords are junk..i know first hand..Dont ever modify one..If you do, just keep the f22 and boost it (best designed honda engine for boost)

Xscorpio 07-Sep-2005 12:17 AM

h22s are high in CR, so not that good for boosting i guess.

imported_Zyepher 07-Sep-2005 12:20 AM

oh, coreyhayman is gona pee on you for that

Gunmetalef 07-Sep-2005 12:21 AM

isn't h22 a direct swap ?

imported_Zyepher 07-Sep-2005 12:23 AM

yea man, i did the h22a swap in 28 minutes in my cord pretty basic

If you're such a NEWB to Honda, maybe you should do some research and try to educate yourself a bit more. Try the Toronto Accords or Honda-Tech websites. Contact Teknotic, one of TCC's vendor's who sells motors.

imported_Team Rukus 07-Sep-2005 11:29 AM

do a f22 with h22 head.
best bang for the buck.

imported_loudsubz 07-Sep-2005 12:45 PM

its the F22B right?

They seem to be hard to find. I guess not all JDM importers bring them over??

Linkz 08-Sep-2005 06:04 PM

well i appreciate all the info i am not jumping into an h22 for bragging rights buddy cause im not a ricer! so that i dont appreciate

now its a f22 are they better to boost? are accord h22 swaps reliable?
