when im driving 60 my tac needle will go wackey and go to 160 than go back any ideas why its doin it

well I have had screwy gauge before and in my experience the only way to fix it is just to replace it. what kind of car do you have? anything from 1988-1998 is pretty easy to locate and cheap about 25$ for the entire instrument panel.. once you have that just transplant the single gauge.
