Newb needs some help

ok first off sorry if this is in the wrong section.

ok well i just bought my first car (94 civic si :D ) and well i have to take the old plates off and well the front one i cant get off. the screws just keep spinning. and i was wondering if there was any trick to getting these off....i realize this is pathetic but i cant figure it out lol. so any help would be great. i have tried dw40 but didn't help any.

btw this is a great forum i have learned a lot (just not how to take the front license plate off lol)

try using vice grips and pull on the screw while you u turn cuz more than likely the plastic speed nut on the backside is just spinning with the screw...so if you pull and turn at the same time it will hopefully give enough friction to keep the speed nut still while only the screw turns

i tried your suggestion but still it doesn't want to come off. how hard is it to take the bumper off... as i think i need to get behind there and hold it.

any other suggestions

grind the head of the screw off with a grinder

The nut and bolt are rusted together. You will have to cut them apart like suggested above.

can you just use bigger screws so that it can just screw into the plastic of the bumper? or put it to the side like braunzcrx said.

that exactly what im gonna do. (use bigger screws)
