Civic 04 Maintenance

Hi all,

I'm a newb to this forum so if I have posted this thread in the wrong category, I apologize. I have an 04 civic sedan that's about to hit the 100k mark and am looking for a place aside from the dealerships to do the maintenance. I see Altech specializes in Honda/Acura vehicles, just curious to know if anyone has some feedback? Also I intend to change the spark plugs and wires along with the timing belt; any recommendations for brands? Finally, what other parts would you recommend changing at this stage?

Thnx in adv for any replies.

your car is equipped with individual ignition packs so there are no plug wires to change. Go with NGK plugs.

your stock spark plugs are actually rated at 160,000 km (from honda manual) so no need for them. Changing the timming belt and water pump, air filter, coolent flush and tranmission fluid is a safe choise now

Welcome to the board, I am in the same vote as you. I keep hearing mixed opions about when to change the timing belt on my car, some say it's not needed at 100,000km. So it'd be good to hear when other honda drivers changed theirs.

Thanks for the quick responses, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the feedback. I've read though some of the posts on this forum in regards to changing the timing belt, I think I will change it even though the Honda manual says it can go well past the 100k mark. To be honest I'd rather not take the risk and drive past 100k. I do plan on taking my civic over to altech performance to have the timing belt, spark plugs, water pump and air filter changed. Does anyone recommend otherwise?

I haven't had any major work done to my civic, doing the above is the exception and the first. I must say tho, since I bought my car in 04, it definetly lacks in performance. If I use the air conditioner, it bogs down the engine big time. You guys been great in providing amazing feedback, one thing I gotta ask tho, what I can do to restore performance to my civic? Would I notice I significant difference in changing the sparks?

Thnx again for all your quick feedback!!!
You guys are great!
