Burning Oil
Okay so I recently bought a 2000 SIR with 220,000 km, I know b16's burn oil especially in VTEC but I checked my oil the other day and it was below the bottom hole on the dip stick. I use mobil 1 2000 high mileage 5w30, is there anything you guys could recommend? Should I switch oils? Am I worrying over nothing?

use 20w50, joking ya they burn lots of oil in vtec but you can always do a compression test to see the condtion of the engine and then if the numbers are dwon you can put a little oil the the plug hole and redo the test and if the numbers bump up its just your rings which are wearing or major and minor thrust wear on the cylinder walls, the oil will seal it and this is a wet test not sure if you knew this already so though i would let you know just incase you werent sure.

^^ditto. then if it's not that bad I suggest Lucas oil stabilizer. 1/2 bottle every oil change. I don't have a b. just a very beaten d16z6. bought the car at 214k it burned like a champ. add a litre a month. I use lucas and have 540k on that motor now. I run into redline more then I care to admit. and still it burns a litre but every 3 months.
